SOCIAL ISSUE: CHILD LABOUR
Nowadays Child labour is a social issue very common and worrying because every time we
see more children working in different places in a risky way either in the Street or in some
factory. Child labor refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that
deprives children of their childhood, interferes with children attending school and is
mentally, physically, socially or morally harmful. child labour is prohibited by world
legislation, although these laws do not consider all children's work as exceptions that
include the work of children's artists, family duties, supervised training, etc.
Its impact on society occurs in different ways, first of all this prevents children from
enjoying their childhood. If they work, they lose the opportunity to play, rest and grow up
physically and psychologically healthy.
Since there are so many young people without education, in the long term it affects the
capacity of the communities to be productive and competitive, affecting their income and
development, preventing breaking the cycle of poverty.

The worst conditions and examples of child labour consist of all forms of slavery or similar
practices, such as forced labor, bondage for parental debts or servitude. This also includes
activities in which they can endanger the safety, health and morals of minors, such as
prostitution, pornography, forced recruitment due to armed conflicts, arms or drug
trafficking, etc.
The negative effects of child labor are many, in addition to premature aging, malnutrition,
depression or drug addiction.

I have personally seen children working in the streets selling sweets or small products, and
when they come to ask if I want a candy I see their faces of sadness, anguish and annoyance
because it is something they do not like. There was a particular case that It seemed unfair
since I saw how a child went to his father and gave him the money he had earned by selling
it to him so that he would spend it on anything that did not benefit the child and on top of
that the pope expected the child to do everything and not to nothing.

Some of the actions to be taken to solve this issue are: Drastic reduction of poverty,
Access to quality and relevant education, provide quality employment to adults responsible
for children, End social norms that allow child labor.
