DOC and DOCX files are Microsoft Word documents
commonly used to author business, academic, and
personal documents. These files can contain a variety
of document content, including text, images, shapes,
styles, and page formatting. While the DOC and DOCX formats
are both supported by Microsoft Word, there are differences
between the formats. DOC files use a proprietary binary format
and are used by Microsoft Word 2003 and earlier.

DOCX files use a newer file format referred to as Open XML,
