JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Piping Designer

A) JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Piping Designer is accountable for producing and maintaining piping deliverables
(including, but not limited to: drawings, BOMs, 3D models and sketches) in accordance with industry
standards, codes and client specifications within the schedule and budget as set-out by the Lead Piping
Designer. The position must support in the overall delivery of Global Energy Groups business
objectives through the aligning of deliverables to that of the individual Business Unit strategy.

B) RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Senior Piping Designer shall include, but are not limited to, those contained
in the following statements:

• Assist in the preparation of CTR’s and man hour estimates.


• Create and respond to technical queries.
• Carry out site surveys, both on and offshore, UKCS and overseas where required gathering
detailed survey information and producing survey reports.
• Carry out 3D modelling & design activities of piping systems & supports.
• Draught & check detailed design drawings of piping systems & supports in accordance with
industry standards, codes and client specifications.
• Prepare & check materials take-offs and bill of materials.
• Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects.
• Provide support and input into the preparation of PED technical files.
• Provide support and input into the preparation of construction workpacks and certification
documentation.
• Responsible for technical decision making associated with any given scope of work.
• Establish good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, department
managers and clients.
• Contribute to the development of engineering staff

C) JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Mandatory

• 6 Years’ experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry & an ONC in engineering or equiv
Or 5 Years’ experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry & an HNC in Mechanical
Engineering or equiv.
• Ability to demonstrate previous experience in the use of AutoCAD 2D & 3D software.

• Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent


• Must have good working knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, ANSI
etc…)
• Relevant Offshore mandatory requirements (Survival, medical, MIST, EBS etc)

E) HOURS OF WORK & REMUNERATION

• This position is based in Dyce, Aberdeen.


• Salary – competitive and dependant on skills and experience
• Hours of work are 40 per week.
