PowerCore® MPC-10/TEC-10

Software Release
Enovation Controls continues to improve software for the
Murphy PowerCore MPC-10 and TEC-10 controllers. The
latest software release (Application 2.8.10133;
Configuration 2.8.10008) provides an enhanced user
experience with several new features. Enovation Controls
will continue to provide enhancements to the controllers’
software periodically throughout their lifecycle. In order to
take advantage of the new features in this update, please
download the latest configuration tool (2.8.10528) and load the new firmware into your current controller. This may
require additional Murphy equipment such as the MPC-10 USB programming harness or an ECOM communication
dongle, which are available for purchase.

This software update provides new features including:

• Improved Passcode Usability: Added two more levels of passcode entry for operator. See operations manual
for new passcodes and menus security levels.
• Improved Prestart Delay (Auto Only): New feature allows for the controller to only turn the prestart delay on
in auto mode if enabled. This feature is helpful if an output is tied to an auto start warning.
• New Digital Input Functions:
o Pivot Alignment: New digital input allows operator to use this as a warning or shutdown when
installing the controller on a Center to Linear Pivot.
• New Output Functions:
o Pivot Power: New function allows an output to be turned on to power the pivot when installing the
controller on a Center Pivot.
o Ignition On: New function allows an output to be turned on while the controller is turned on, except
during sleep mode.
• Engine Support:
o Volvo Electronic Engine: Added support for Volvo starting, stopping and Tier 4 when Volvo is
selected as the Engine Manufacturer in the Engine Settings menu.
o Scania Electronic Engine: Added support for Scania starting, stopping and Tier 4 when Scania is
selected as the Engine Manufacturer in the Engine Settings menu.
o FORD (EControls ECU) Electronic Engine: Added engine support for the FORD engine supplied by EDI
with an EControls ECU.

o Perkins Electronic Engine: Added engine support for Perkins engines.
o PSI (EControls ECU) Electronic Engine: Changed name from GM to PSI (EControls ECU) to eliminate
confusion.
o GM (MEFI ECU) Electronic Engine: Added support for GM gas engines using the MEFI ECU.
o HATZ: Added support for the HATZ liquid-cooled Final Tier 4 engine.
o FPT: Added Final Tier 4 support for FPT engines.
o Yanmar: Removed Yanmar from the manufacturer due to special needs of the Yanmar engine.
• Improved Service Reminders:
o Default Service Life Hours: Changed all service life hours from 250 to 0. If the operator wishes to take
advantage of the service life reminders, he will now need to set these to the desired life hours.
o Service Reminders Screen: Added a new feature to show/hide the Service Reminder screen from the
main screens. The screen is defaulted to hide since the hours are set at 0.
• New ECU Fault Code Clearing:
o Clear Active ECU Fault Codes: Added a new feature to allow the OEM to clear active fault codes from
the ECU. This should only be performed by a factory-authorized technician and is only supported if
the engine ECU allows the request. This feature is set to high security by default.
o Clear Stored ECU Fault Codes: Added a new feature to allow the OEM to clear stored fault codes
from the ECU. This should only be performed by a factory-authorized technician and is only
supported if the engine ECU allows the request. This feature is set to high security by default.
• Improved Auto/Manual Mode Selection: Controller does not require holding of the Auto key to change from
auto/manual modes. A single press of the Auto key will now switch modes. When switching from manual to
auto, there is a confirmation screen the operator must acknowledge prior to the controller switching to Auto
mode.
• New Manual Only Feature: Added a new feature to allow the controller to be placed into Manual Mode only.
When enabled, this feature will not allow the operator to change the controller from manual to auto mode.
This new feature is located in the System menu under Auto/Manual.
• New Throttle Type: Added a new throttle type of None. This setting is located in the Throttle menu and is
selected when the controller is not intended to throttle the engine.
• New Auto Throttling Type: Added a new throttle type named Linear Auto Throttle. This setting allows the
controller to linearly throttle between two start/stop set points from the set minimum and maximum speeds
for Pressure or Level.
• Running Loaded Speed: Moved this menu item to Application Configuration as an auto throttle method.
• New CAN Parameter Map: Allows a user to pair the MPC-20-R2 with a CAN-only communications device. This
feature uses proprietary PGNs in a J1939 CAN map similar to the Modbus mapping of the RS485.
• Improved Speed Calibration Menu: Added a decimal to allow smaller pulse sizes when using the engine
alternator as a speed input.
• Improved Discharge Pressure Analog Input: Controller now allows from 0 to 50,000psi of pressure from
maximum of 6,000psi to accommodate higher pressure applications.
• New Auto Start Popup Warning: Added a new menu item to allow a warning screen requiring confirmation
when the controller is set to power up in Auto mode. This is set to show by default but can be disabled by the
operator or technician.
• Warnings and Shutdowns: Warnings and shutdowns tied to analog inputs are not shown in menu until the
analog input is set.
• Improved Alternator Excite Functionality: New menu item in system settings to allow a user to show or hide
the alternator fail warning fault. This feature is useful when the alternator still needs to be excited by the
Page 2 of 4
controller, but the excite circuit has a flyback diode installed. A warning or shutdown is triggered if the
controller is not able to sense the excitation voltage of the alternator and may not need a warning or
shutdown in this scenario.
• Pressure Transducer: Added Pressure Transducer into Pump All Purpose application.
• Level Transducer:
o Added Level Transducer auto start/stop method to Pump All Purpose application.
o Added Level transducer throttle method to Pump All Purpose application.
• Manual Throttle Method: Added new user selections to the throttle menu for selection of manual throttling
of the engine. This setting now includes the following:
o Inc/Dec Ramp – Variable throttle increase as used previously.
o Run/Idle – two preset run speeds determined by user.
o Preset 3 – three preset run speeds determined by user.
o Preset 4 – four preset run speeds determined by user.
• Parameter Selection: Added a new menu item in the system menu allowing a user to select the parameters
in the 4-up pages using the front UI without needing a PC.
• Exercise Timer: New timer added to the Start/Stop Timers menu allowing a user to enable/disable the
feature; set the low voltage set point they wish to start when dipping below; the time needed to be below
the low voltage; and the time the user wishes the engine to run to recharge the battery.
• Improved Modbus Map:
o New Registers Added in Modbus Map: See new Modbus map in MPC-10 operations manual for
detail of the new register(s).
