action. Underneath the picture, a word will be typed. If needed, the students can ask
the teacher to help them identify the action in the picture. They will then show the card

● Summative Assessment

★ Performance tasks: Given a worksheet with pictures of nouns and verbs, students will

crayon.
★ With assistance, students will write a sentence using a noun and a verb.

Pre-Assessment:
For our pre-assessment, will have the words noun and verb written on the board. When our
mentor teacher introduces new vocabulary, she has the new vocabulary words written on the
board and reads the words aloud to the students, asking if they might know what the word
means. By doing this she has an understanding of words they know, and words they have not
yet learned. As we ask the students about nouns and verbs, and ask for examples, we will have
baseline data of their knowledge about nouns and verbs to go off of for our unit.
