A Haiku is a short Japanese poem used to evoke images. Read the Haiku in your book, ‘Footprints
without Feet’ and compose one of your own with ‘Delhi’ as the theme.
1. Illustrate a short story in the form of a comic strip (about 6 scenes). Give a suitable heading
to your story and include speech or thought bubbles (whichever is required). Try to
draw/sketch/paint by yourself, or you may use stick figures as well.
2. Read the poem, ‘For Anne Gregory’ from the book, ‘First Flight’. You have perhaps
concluded that people are not objects to be valued for their qualities or riches, but for
themselves. But Yeats asks the question: How can we separate the dancer from the dance?
Is it possible to separate the person himself from how he looks, sounds, walks, etc.?
Describe how one of your close people has changed over the years. Did your relationship
with the person also change? In what way? Share your thoughts and feelings in the form of
a paragraph. Give a suitable title to your write-up.

1. Find the value of ‘ m’ for which the pair of linear equations 2x + 3y – 7 =0 and
2. Determine by drawing graphs whether the following system of linear equations is consistent or
not :
2x – 3y = 6 ; x+y=1
x + 3y = 6 ;2x - 3y = 12
Hence find the area of the region bounded by the lines x = 0, y = 0 and 2x - 3y = 12

7. There are some students in the two examination halls A and B. To make the number of students
equal in each hall, 10 students are sent from A to B. But if 20 students are sent from B to A, the
number of students in A becomes double the number of students in B. Find the number of
students in the two halls.

1. What is meant by Refractive index? If the speed of light in a medium is 2/3rd the speed of light
in a vacuum, find the refractive index of the medium.
2. An object is 2m away from a lens, which forms an erect image ¼ the size of the image.
Determine the focal length of the lens. What type of lens is this?
3. (i) With the help of a ray diagram show that when light falls obliquely on a side of a rectangular
glass slab the emergent ray is parallel to the incident ray.
(ii) The refractive index of water for light going from air to water is 1.33. Find the refractive
index of air for a beam of light going from water to air.
Draw a labeled diagram to show the formation of image in each case. Which of these lenses could
also form a magnified and real image of the object? State the position of the object for which this
could happen.
Also draw ray diagrams and mention the reason(s) for their use.
6. Name the type of lens that can be used as a magnifying glass. Give reason(s) and draw a ray
diagram to support your answer.
