PROBLEM DEFINITION

Let S be a graph system

S = {E,V,R | Fs}

where

V = {v0,v1,v2,v3 | Fv}
E = {e0,e1,e2,e3 | Fe}
R = {r1,r2}.

OBJECTIVE
• To develop a user-centric intelligent home
automation system involving effective wireless M-
to-M communication.

03/31/15
NEED OF HOME AUTOMATION

• Convenience

• Safety

• Energy Saving

• Security

03/31/15
EXISTING SYSTEMS

a) Controlling through remote controllers

- Bluetooth
- Radio Frequency (RF)
- Infrared (IR)

b) Controlling through mobile

- Sms
- Gprs

PLATFORM CHOICE

• Operating System: Windows 7.

• Front End Tool: .NET

• Back End Tool: C,C++

03/31/15
REQUIREMENTS

• Laptop

• Mobile

• Intel Server

• Home devices

• Sensors
03/31/15
TECHNOLOGIES

• Arduino UNO

• Xbee

03/31/15
WHAT IS ARDUINO?

• Open-source electronic prototyping platform.

• A single board micro-controller.

• A tool for making computers that can sense and control

more of the physical world than desktop computers.

• Can sense the environment by receiving input by a variety

of sensors and actuators will act according to the users
requirement.

03/31/15
WHY ARDUINO?
 Inexpensive

 cross-platform

 Simple and clear programming environment

 Open source extensible software

 Shields- boards that can be plugged on top of the

arduino UNO extending its capabilities.

ENVIRONMENT

03/31/15
XBee
• Device based on the IEEE 802.15.4 wireless
specification.
• It is a brand name from DIGI International for a
family of compatible radio modules.
• Designed for point to point and star communication
radio.

03/31/15
WHY Xbee ?

• Arduino xbee shield allows multiple arduino boards

to communicate wirelessly over distances up to 100
feet(indoor) to 300feet (outdoor).

• XBee radios are ideal for Arduino-based wireless

projects due to their low-cost, low-power, and easy-
to-use serial interface communication.
