The Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ

Today Jesus feeds over five thousand and has leftovers! Notice that this meal is not
fast food, nor is it only about eating. It is a larger event of gathering, teaching,
healing, blessing and engaging others in making the meal happen. When we eat as a
family, it is important to take the time to gather, talk, nourish relationships, pray and
participate together in making the meal happen. Meals like this give life that result in
leftovers for others beyond the family. The works of mercy are energized by these
meals.
353 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week.
Our vacancies remain: Sunday, midnight to 1am and 1-2pm. “In the
Sacred Host, He is present, the true treasure, always waiting for us. Only by
adoring this Presence do we learn how to receive him properly.” During
Eucharistic Adoration we “watch and wait,” we remain silent in his Presence
and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist. By worshiping the
Eucharist Jesus, we become what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, the Lord draws
us to himself and gently transforms us. In its fullest essence…Eucharist Adoration is
“God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time! (Holy Hour for Priests)

Pastor’s Formed Pick of the Week: “The Woman”

In the Gospels we hear Jesus refer to his mother Mary as “Woman.” This
reference should draw our attention to the woman mentioned in Genesis, as well as in
the book of Revelations. But who is this “Woman” and why is she so central in the
history of Salvation? This powerful film presents beautiful Catholic teaching about
Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and her important role in the Church and the lives of
Christians today. Combining many gorgeous images from classic sacred art with a
lovely soundtrack, the dogmas of the Mother of God: Immaculate Conception,
Perpetual Virginity, and Assumption are explained, along with other traditional beliefs
and devotions to Mary.

Charitable Giving Ideas for 2019 - Did you know that gifting appreciated stock (held more than
one year) to a charitable organization such as Catholic Charities or your parish may allow you to
deduct the stock’s full value and bypass capital gains tax? In addition, if you are 70 ½ or older,
you may be able to reduce your taxable income this year with a gift made directly from your IRA
to a qualified charity such as Catholic Charities or your parish. Your accountant or IRA
administrator can help you understand how the IRA Charitable Rollover works and the particular
steps you can take to lower your taxes and help Catholic Charities, your parish or a diocesan
ministry. Learn more by contacting Sandy Lucas of the Catholic Community Foundation at (216)
