YARN NOTIONS
Knit Picks Hawthorne Speckle (80% Superwash Fine Yarn Needle
Highland Wool, 20% Polyamide Nylon, 357 yards/100g):
GAUGE
MC Jupiter 27216, 1 hank
20 sts and 44 rows = 4” in Garter st, unblocked
Knit Picks Hawthorne Multi (80% Superwash Fine Highland 18 sts and 36 rows = 4” in Garter st, lightly blocked
Wool, 20% Polyamide Nylon , 357 yards/100g): C1 Kenton Gauge is not important for this project but it affects
27414, C2 Arleta 27413, C4 Lovejoy 26865, 1 hank each finished size and amount of yarn needed.
2 Diffusion Shawl
Work Diagonal Lace pattern rows 1-10 once. Rep rows 3-10 one
more time. Then, rep rows 3-4 once. 169 sts.
Work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern five times. 174 sts.
Break C4.
Border
Break CC after each stripe.
With C3, work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern once. 175 sts.
With C2, work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern once. 176 sts.
With C1, work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern once. 177 sts.
With MC, work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern once. 178 sts.
With C4, work Rows 1-2 of Garter Shaping pattern once. 179 sts.
K one row. Break C4.
Bind Off
BO on WS with C4 using Picot or Regular BO.
Picot BO
Using Cable CO, CO2 sts onto LH needle, BO 8 K-wise, *move
st from RH needle to LH needle, CO2 sts onto LH needle, BO 8
K-wise, rep from * to end. Cut yarn and pull yarn tail into the last
st.
Regular BO
K1, *K1, pull the first st on the RH needle over the second st and
off the RH needle; rep from * to end. Cut yarn and pull the yarn
tail into the last st.
Finishing
Weave in yarn ends; trim after blocking. Soak shawl in lukewarm
water (with soap for fiber if desired) for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and
roll in towel to get rid of excess water. Pin out on a clean sheet or
blocking board. Let dry and unpin only when dry, then trim yarn
tails.
