Physical Education Week Of: May 22-26, 2017

Monday=Band recruitment using gym


Tuesday=Soccer Day, 3rd grade field trip, 3:15 BLT meeting
Wednesday=8:15 meeting, K field trip, 5:30-6:30 student success night
Thursday=5th grade field trip
Friday=Patrol field trip
Teacher: Mrs. Coffinbargar/ Ms Jenkins
Unit: Muscles/ t-ball
Standards: 19.1, 19.2, 20.1
Lesson Objective: Students will be able to perform a variety of
locomotor patterns hop and grapevine
Students will be able to locate muscles and how they work
Instructional Strategy:
Outside

Grapevine/karaoke
Warm up throwing-ABC
A=hands at chest with ball
B=pull throwing arm back
C=step with opposite foot and throw to partner
*test students on their throwing using rubric
T-ball practice
Equipment=hula hoop, cone, 2 dots, bat, ball, T for each team
Players=catcher in hula hoop, hitter by T, pitcher on dot, infielder on dot,
outfielder on cone
Catcher=stands on hula hoop –will be next batter
Hitter= hits ball off of T and runs around cone and back to t as many times as he
can before the ball is back to the pitcher
Pitcher= gets ball from the outfielder and says OUT to stop the runner
Outfielders=fields the ball, when he gets it throw to pitcher
*rotate up a spot when the pitcher has the ball-put back on T
Rotation=catcher –hitter-pitcher-infielder-outfielder-catcher
*set up bases like a real field, students can rotate or play baseball rules
Inside-Health -Muscle Memory
Equipment needed
muscular system vocabulary cards (1 set per group) muscle memory activity
signs (1 per team)
8 hula hoops (1 per team)
8 cones (1 per team)
Hula hoops are spread out inside the gym. At each hula
hoop, place a set of vocabulary cards upside down.
Around that hula hoop spread out the picture cards.
Memory Activity signs are on top of cones in a cone
holder for each group.
Divide students into teams by their number cards on
wall. Student take turns finding a match (1 vocabulary
card with 1 picture card).
If a match is made the team does the corresponding
activity on the Memory activity sign. If the card does not
match, the student turns it over and tags a team mate to
try.
REPEAT
If all matches are made the team does jumping jacks,
teacher checks matches
Exit Slip-have students label the muscles on the muscle
chart near the door
