Japan Economic and Foreign Policies

1. Equal pay for equal work


— is one of the policies pursued by the government in its work-style reform agenda in
which workers should be equally treated in terms of wages and other conditions
irrespective of their contract status if they engage in the same work

2. Proactive contributions to peace


Japan will contribute even more proactively in securing peace, stability and
prosperity of the international community while achieving its own security as well
as peace and stability in the region.

3. Humanitarian Aid and Human Security

-Human Security, which is one of the principal pillars of foreign policy of


Japan, means focusing on individual people and building societies in which
everyone can live with dignity by protecting and empowering individuals and
communities that are exposed to actual or potential threats. Therefore
humanitarian assistance can be considered as one of the undertakings to realize
human security.

4. Achieve Sustainable and Self-Sustaining Growth


- strengthen initiatives aimed at realizing new energy and environmental
structures capable of meeting appeals for a safe and stable supply, efficiency,
and for the environment, as well as robust economic structures that are
fortified against enormous risks. At the same time, we will also achieve
sustainable and self-sustaining growth by means of promoting the expansion
of new growth sectors.

5. Country Assistance Policy
- Japan's country-specific aid policy, with a view to further enhancing strategic
value, efficiency, transparency and accountability of ODA. In formulating the
Country Assistance Policy, the opinions of the "Country-based ODA Task
Force," comprised mainly of members of the Embassy of Japan and the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in each recipient country, are
taken into consideration.
6. Sectoral Development Policy
- Japan carries out strategic development cooperation through formulating
sectoral development policy or initiative, which considers international efforts
such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in addition to
formulating country assistance policy.
