Dear Sir:

This is to respectfully request for a Regional Memorandum in connection with a public service
engagement of the Deparhnent of Social Sciences (DSS), CAS, UP Los Banos. The seminar-
workshop is aptly titled, "Tulong Durong 2019", slated on 29-31 Jdy 2019. No registration
fees shall be collected. However, accommodation and food shall be the responsibiliry of the
participants. The maximum number is 120 persons. Reservation shall be through the official
facebook page of the DSS (https:i/www.facebook.comAJPlBDss0. The venue is the New
CAS Annex 1 Building, UP Los Banos.

The above underlaking has the following objectives: 1.) to provide hands-on training on the
theoqy and practice of action research in the €ontext of the needs of those in the secondary
schools,2.) to broaden the exposure of teachers who are given the tasks that cover qualitative
and quantitative research assignments in the senior high school curriculum, and 3.) to
institutionalize the sharing of experiences between tertiary and basic education levels of the
educational system. A principle of action research is to improve on a particular existing
condition. Teachers have to work on problems and issues that they encounter in their actual
work settings. The goal is to enhance the quality of instruction using the fimdamentals of
research and academic collaboration. The institution benefits inasmuch as the community is
given efficient delivery of knowledge packages,

About fwo years ago, your office supported an outreach programme initiated by the DSS and
it was a success due to your official notification addressed to your constituents. The
undersigned is hopeful that the same beneficence will be given to us, once again.
