target brightness and dirt count
Dirt Count
Raw materials : pulp thicker than usual – adjust beating time Commented [JTP1]: Check.
Flotation – efficiency and chemical dosage
Disperger & Kneading Machine : loading – increase set point
o disperger fillings : clearance – ↓ clearance, ↑ load Commented [JTP2]: Check.
Wire Press : pressing – reflected by consistency (30 - 35)
o ↑ consistency, ↑ disperger loading
Brightnesss
Raw materials
o already at lower limit brightness (Hydra) : problems to accumulate down the process
e.g. initial brite of 70 +12 upon reaching Wire Press 2
Flotation – same with dirt count
Bleaching – dosage
Steam – ≥ 70 °C
Retention Level – target soaking or curing time
Wire Press Loading : H2O dilutes H2O2 during bleaching
o 30 - 35 consistency
↓ H2O, better bleaching
Stickies
Raw materials
Pulping time : too long : even stickies are “pulped”
Chemical – stickies control – Trisodium phosphate
LCS – multiscreen or slot screen – efficiency
Wire Press 2 – HD tanks to PM 1 – efficiency – almost no filtrate
o Cell floater – clarifying of filtrate – coagulant & flocculant
Fiber loss
Rejection to
o sewer
o wire good overflowing
Filtrate overflow
Pump leaks
Total Suspended Matter (TSM)
o e.g. 5000 to 9000 – check wire

Role.
Process that removes ink from fibers using combination of chemical and mechanical process.
The stock is subsequently aerated at low consistency in a series of flotation cells causing the light
floes of ink particles to rise to the surface where they are removed.
♪ Centrifugal Cleaner
Removes unwanted particles from pulp by combination of centrifugal force and fluid shear. Its
separates on the basis of density differences and particle shape.
♪ Screens
Slots or holes used to remove contaminants that are larger than pulp fibers.
♪ Disperger
Equipment with rotor and stator toothed disc, used to cut dirt in pulp to smallest particles.
Also serves as a pulp refiner
♪ Dewatering
Is the process of improving fiber brightness (color), using steam and chemicals.
Soaking tank where the bleaching process take place.
