0 Introduction
In this semester, my cohort has Curriculum Studies, and we had done two tasks
as the coursework. The first task was written an assignment on comparing and contrast
the Malaysian KSSR ESL curriculum with one of the selected countries curricula, as
for me I did the Korean education curriculum. Then the second task was an oral
presentation emphasis on teachers and students’ aspiration. Throughout these two
tasks, I had gained new experiences and new awareness. Hence, this writing will
discuss more experiences gained from the coursework done.

2.0 Experiences Gained

From the first task, I learned that every country had its vision and mission of
their education systems. The country’s education system is based on the background,
culture, and geographic of the country. Regardless of many views and culture’s belief,
Roger & Zuwati (2017) stated that the English language is still considered as an
essential language that needs to be learned because it is a lingua franca language.
Furthermore, the English language is acknowledged as an essential language to learn
in benefits the people and economic growth of the country (Importance of English
Education in School, 2015).

As for the second task, I experienced intensely in the importance of teachers’

aspirations and students’ aspiration. My group touched about teachers did not use
learning support materials provided efficiently. This issue not only affecting the teacher
effectiveness of teaching but also a pupils learning process. In the articles that my
group is chosen, I noticed that pupils’ attitudes also affected the teachers’ negative
attitude toward the use of supporting materials in teaching and learning process. This
situation creates an awareness for me that teachers are viewed as a role model to the
pupils (Simon, 2016), especially toward the teaching classroom. In countering this
issue, we demonstrated a role play of an NGO, Yayasan Peneraju Bumiputra,
providing training to teachers in using teaching materials and choosing the right
material in an activity.

3.0 Conclusion

To put in the nutshells, Malaysian MOE could collaborate more with NGO,
especially the organization that provides training for teachers in improving teaching
qualities. By doing so, I believe that the Malaysian education system could be on the
same level as other developing country such as Korea.
