RULES & REGULATIONS : HOMEOSTASIS – 2019

The HOMEOSTASIS- FINALS will be preceded by two rounds of quizzing viz. Prelims and Pre-finals. These
are the rules to be followed/referred to during the course of the Quiz.

1. PRELIMINARY ROUND - 1st round of elimination


1.1 A written preliminary round consisting of objective type questions (MCQ’s of different types,
matching responses and one word answers) to be completed within specified time.
1.2 Marking more than one response in MCQ’s will be considered incorrect.
1.3 In one word type of answers, answers should be in legible writing will be deemed incorrect.
1.4 Each correct response gets plus 2. Wrong response gets minus 1. No response no marks.
1.5 Top EIGHTEEN teams will qualify for the pre-final round.*
1.6 To break any deadlock in preliminary round scores, ONLY draw of Lots will be used.

2. PRE-FINAL ROUND - 2nd round of elimination


2.1 The eighteen teams will be divided into three groups by draw of lots.
2.2 6 teams in each group formed will participate in the Pre-final round.
2.3 Questions may be direct and/or buzzer type with negative marking.
2.4 In case of any tie in pre-finals,
First the combined scores of Pre-final & Prelims will be considered.
If tie persists, buzzer based Tie-breaker question will be used.
2.5 Top two teams from EACH GROUP will qualify for the FINALS.

3. HOMEOSTASIS- FINALS
3.1 The Six top teams will compete for the title of winners and runners-up.
3.2 There will be 6-8 rounds of active quizzing with rounds having direct questions, buzzer, rapid
fire, visuals, correlation, applied aspects etc.
3.3 Questions may be direct and/or buzzer type with or without negative marking.
3.4 In case of tie in Finals, buzzer based tie breaker questions will be used.
3.5 Specific final round related rules regarding time, marks etc will be announced during finals.

4. PLEASE NOTE: IMPORTANT


4.1 Depending on total number of teams reporting on Quiz day, the number of pre-finalists will be
decided. If < 15 teams report, straightaway 6 teams will be selected for FINALS. If > 25 teams
report then 18 teams will make it to pre-finals. *
4.2 Teams should be punctual. Team should report at helpdesk before the prelims round.
4.3 In buzzer rounds, after pressing buzzer, teams are expected to answer immediately or they will
be penalized.
4.4 The quiz is based on 1st MBBS syllabus, so standard textbooks viz. Vasudevan, Satyanaryana
Harper, Lippincott, Puri, S.K Gupta etc and Practical journal should suffice as reference. Our
effort will be to highlight the applied and clinical aspects and skills of reasoning.
4.5 Final decision rests with the Quizmaster in consultation with Jury members.
4.6 There is no entry fee. T.A/D.A claims are not admissible.
4.7 Participation certificate and token gift for all. Prizes for pre-finalists onwards……..
4.8 Breakfast and lunch will be arranged for participants and faculties.
