Aim: To establish an accepted system for all stages of rapid cyanide leach
versus fire assay testwork, from grade control sampling to laboratory
submission and reporting
Scope: A second phase of testwork is planned to compare the results
of the PMG laboratory rapid cyanide leach analysis with those of
conventional fire assay by ACME Laboratory, Guasipati
Use of the rapid cyanide leach method instead of fire assay
has the potential to significantly reduce the cost of grade control
analysis
Compliancy: MRM Quality Management System (MRMQMS)
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX)
Resource/ Reserve Reporting Codes (SAMREC)
Audit/ Assessment :

1. INTRODUCTION
The rapid cyanide leach versus fire assay testwork has the potential to significantly reduce
the cost of grade control analysis.
If the testwork were to be successful, it is envisaged that all grade control samples would be
submitted for initial rapid cyanide leach analysis. Thereafter, MRM would recommend that all
samples of approximately 10% below ore grade cut-off and all above would be re-submitted
for final fire assay.
Almost all waste samples, therefore, would not be re-analysed by fire assay, saving in excess
of US$10 per sample at quoted PMG laboratory rates.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES
Grade control sampling: mine geologists (Patricia Suegart & Carin Muñoz)
Field quality assurance & insertion of quality control: mine geologists (Patricia Suegart
& Carin Muñoz)
Collection & correct numbering of primary samples, 30g standards, first set of field
duplicates & field blanks for delivery to ACME Laboratory for sample preparation
(crushing & pulverisation): mine geologists (Patricia Suegart & Carin Muñoz)
Collection & correct numbering of reject samples, second set of field duplicates & field
blanks for delivery to ACME Laboratory for sample preparation (crushing &
pulverisation): mine geologists (Patricia Suegart & Carin Muñoz)
Numbering and incorporation into the ACME sample stream of the designated portion
of the above certified standard sample split: mine geologists (Patricia Suegart & Carin
Muñoz) & La Ramona database and sample submission team (Nancy Aguilera &
Yelitza Camacho)
Return of PMG laboratory portion of pulverised sample from ACME Laboratory for
cyanide leach (Nancy Aguilera)
Rapid cyanide leach & reporting of results: PMG laboratory (Natalia Plechtcheeva,
Laboratory Manager)
Fire assay sample preparation, fire assay & reporting of results: ACME, Guasipati
(Alfredo Aguirre, General Manager)
The following recommendations from the earlier Phase 1 testwork are to be carried out:
These samples should be concentrated around the lower and upper ore/waste cut-
offs, namely 0.4-0.5g/t and 1.0-1.2g/t
There is no need to carry out aqua regia analysis of grade-control inserted standards,
as this has no bearing on the rapid cyanide leach versus fire assay investigation
To make up a 300g sample for leaching, 10 times the normal amount of standard
would need to be used. For this reason, for the purposes of this testwork, 30g
standards should only be inserted into the primary sample stream for the fire assay
laboratory (ACME). The 30g standards are too small to be analysed using the rapid
cyanide leach method, which requires 300g of sample
4. PROCEDURE
Normal grade control sampling is carried out, with the primary sample and WHOLE
reject sample being submitted to ACME, Guasipati
Normal 30g standards (1 in 40 samples, as normal) are to be inserted only into the
PRIMARY sample stream for fire assay, at ACME, Guasipati
Field duplicates and blanks are to be inserted every 1 in 40 samples, as normal, for
both the primary and reject sample streams, for submission to ACME Laboratory
Primary samples, 30g standards, first field duplicates and first field blanks to be
submitted to ACME, Guasipati, for crushing, pulverisation & fire assay
Reject samples, second field duplicates and second field blanks (no 30g standards)
to be submitted to ACME, Guasipati for crushing & pulverisation
PMG laboratory is to split each 1kg bag of its own 0.7g/t (Natalia to confirm exact
grade plus provide std deviation) certified standard to 50g for the primary (ACME) fire
assay sample stream
1 certified PMG laboratory standard should be inserted for each leach machine batch
of 52 samples
The 50g standards for ACME, Guasipati, are to be bagged and numbered, and
incorporated into the ACME sample stream
The sample despatch forms to ACME are to clearly state that 2kg pulps are required
for fire assay
ACME Laboratory will crush and pulverise all samples submitted for this testwork,
including those samples intended for fire assay as well as those samples to be
returned to PMG laboratory for cyanide leach
ACME Laboratory will pulverise the maximum capacity of 2kg wherever possible in the
LM2 B2000 ring mills. In the case of the 600g standards, the entire 600g will be
pulverised. For any primary samples weighing less than 2kg, all of these samples will
be pulverised
The pulps intended for PMG laboratory will be transported from ACME Laboratory to
PMG laboratory for cyanide leach
All PMG laboratory samples must be subjected to IDENTICAL treatment in the rapid
cyanide leach process. For example, 2 Leachwell tablets and 2.5 hours leach time
should be applied to every sample, with no preferential (subjective) care afforded any
sample
No steel balls are to be used by PMG laboratory for comminution in the leach
tumblers, as the sample pulps should remain as similar as possible to the fire assay
pulps
