Week 2
Create a detailed amount of research about
documentary’, this documentary has to look
professional and I think I will need to make the
documentary filled with information, and include facts
that are true rather than made up or exaugurated
Phone addiction because it a very detailed topic that
allows us to show teens that the most important thing
isn’t just a how you use your phone but how long you
use it for this will be hard to document and we will
need to make sure that we are not bias
We have all decided what to research and the
amount we need to. Do this makes it easier to get
truthful research. As well as both understanding the
topic
I have learned all about documentary’s and I’ve
created a detailed amount of research that shows
the effect I’m going for.
It made it really easy to understand the data that was
on there and it also made it easier
I think that we should have tried not to explain to
much because it made it quite boring. As well as
making it look like a factual proses rather than a
production that shows how are documentary is going
to be filmed

RESEARCH WEEK 3
What did you learn from your
research?

I have learned that it is best to plan as it makes the
forming of the documentary very easy
We set up an interview with a psychology teacher
that will show us a professional view on what we are
talking about
We found it had to set certain times however this was
resolved, and we overcame the other obstacles that
were in our way by making sure that they were
planned out in advance
I think that we are working really well as a team and
we both listens to other people’s ideas
I have completed most of my work away from school
as I find it is easier and calm at home rather than in
school

I believe there Is some stuff that I will need to
complete. For example I will need to make sure that I
have completed my location recce as well as the
script for the production.
I’ve gained a lot of valuable information from my
research. One of the main things that I have learnt
would have to be learning about my audience. By
making a focus group I was given a better light as
to who might be watching my music video
At first, I had an idea as to who was going to be
looking at my music video. However, I changed this
because I created a focus group and it told me
that the kinds of people that I was making the video
for was wrong. Because of this it’s been easier to
understand the kind of music video that I have to
produce

I looked into the kinds of places that music videos
are made for and one of the most popular choices
was YouTube. This is mainly because it is free and is
really easy to access. This has made me realise that
I will be releasing the music video on YouTube
Well I had an idea as to who I thought I would cast
and I created my production around them. This may
have been a bad idea, but I feel like it is going to
work out. I have however looked at casting a
drummer but at the moment it has been hard to
find one
I have actually learnt a lot from the test shoots. One
of the main things being that the idea that I thought
of at first may not work as it might look bland but
because I looked into it I found that there was
another way of doing what I wanted to do
There is a lot of work that I need to do but one of
those things is mainly putting all the components
together all on one page
I have learnt that planning is one of the most
important parts of making a music video, this is mainly
because if you don’t have a plan things can go
horribly wrong
One of the biggest problems that I had during the
planning was having to find times that were good for
all the people involved.
I made sure that what I lacked in art I made up for a
written description that showed the user what is going
on to show them what is happening and avoiding any
confusion

PLANNING WEEK 5

It has changed a bit, but I wouldn’t say that it has
changed drastically I have tried to go into as much
detail that I can. My times have changed but this
wasn’t much of a drastic change
The shooting script was created to stay in theme with
professional scripts by using the same font and the
same kind of positioning. As well as this I have also
found out that the best way to make a shooting script
is to have the music lyrics on one side and the script on
the other side
I haven’t had any problems so far when it can to
asking my actor when he would be available. There
were some days that he couldn’t do but they were
replaced by other days
I’m pretty on track and I have completed everything
that I’ve had to do
There is a lot of work that I need to do but one of
those things is mainly putting all the components
together all on one page
From my planning I have found out that there are a lot
of problems when It comes to finding locations as well
as finding problems to those places
One of the biggest problems that I had during the

show the address a picture of the area, this was also
accompanied by a small explanation of the problems
that I might face when filming in the location as well as
how to solve that problem

PLANNING WEEK 6

With the props list I showed an understanding as to
when the prop is needed what it is needed for and
how much that prop cost. I did this because it lets you
help to understand the budget of the music video
My production schedule was detailed in a way that it
could be sent to actors and be easily understood. This
was achieved by making sure that each week was in
a separate graph and within those graphs were
Colom’s that showed the days and what will be going
on in those days as well as the times for that day
To ensure that my crew and actors were punctual
when it came to be being at the location at the right
time I made sure I sent them my production schedule 2
weeks before the film so that they could make sure
that they were available
I’m pretty on track this week as I’ve sent out things for
my actors and I have made sure that what I’m doing is
all on time for the week
There is some work that I need to work on but not a lot
of it is drastic and it can be done quickly

PLANNING WEEK 7
What did you learn from your
planning this week?
It was hard to find out how I was going to tackle the
way I did it was making sure that I had storyboards as
well as making sure I knew what I was filming on each
day as well
To make sure that I had my equipment I used the hiring
system by the collage that made sure I had the
equipment back at a specific time as well as back in a
good condition.
I made a schedule that I sent to them. I dshaven’t had
any problems so far when it can to asking my actor
when he would be available. There were some days
that he couldn’t do but they were replaced by other
days
There isn’t much travel needed because my actor lives
near the location of filming so having to organise
timings wasn’t that hard. One of the main problems
was having to make sure that the actor was on time.
This was done by telling him that he needed to be
there as soon as possible to make the most of the
filming time as well as the light.
I’m pretty far behind when it comes to my
organisation. My actor told me that he had some
events on at the labelled times, so I have to work out
what I’m going to do about finding new times to film
All I need to do at this moment is trying to figure out
times for my actor that fit him as well as making sure I
have the timings for that. There isn’t much written work
I need to do. The main thing that I need to work on is
the production schedule
From this week I found out that it is beyond crucial to
plan ahead. This is because things can go very very
wrong. Luckily, I haven had any major issues because I
planned ahead

FILMING WEEK 8
There weren’t many problems that I faced that were
major thankfully I only had to do a small bit of work as I
hadn’t done it previously. There will probably more
work that I have to do in the near future but for the
moment I’m working on making sure that everything
that I’m doing is up to standard
I made sure that I was prepared for filming by making
sure that all the equipment I needed to film was ether
hired out the day before or was ready for the filming
week
I mainly made sure that It was in a format that I was
able to understand as well as this I made it available to
be seen so that I could make sure that everything I
needed was on the table and was ether hired out
I sent them a list of days they should be available, and
they have all signed off to being available on those
days
It was pretty easy to find out where we were filming.
This was because one of the locations is my house and
another is the actors house. The third location however
is

I have nearly finished all I needed to film, and it has all been
because of the fact that I planned beforehand. It allowed
me to show it to my actors and the understood what was
happening.
It will be super useful as it will allow me more time to edit. The
editing is the longest part of the prosses and it shows all the
clips together, so I need as much time to work on it as
possible
This shows an outtake from one of my shots. This shot had to
be done around 30 times because the actor found the shot
Idea really funny and the fact the I was walking backwards
down some stairs. We eventually got it and It looked really
good
Our main problem was that out actor had to run a lot so he
became very exhausted after a while and it eventy got to
the point where it was too much to handle, we countered
this by making sure that we had very apparent breaks so
that he didn’t over exhaust us
They were very suitable, and they really encompassed the
home kind of vide I was going for. The woods were a great
location and they were really long. This allowed us to be
filming for ages not worrying about what was happening
and to just run for ages
I made use of the fact that I have learnt a lot of technical
camera work. This allowed me to make my filming go
smoothly and hopefully it shouldn’t be repetitive

There are some things that I might need to reshoot, but I
don’t think they’re going to be that bad at all. Apart from
that I’m extremely happy with how everything is turning out
and how its shots are solid and have a nice flow
I’m really ready to edit and I would like to get started on it as
soon as possible
Other than the editing there isn’t much that I need to do
outside of work, this is mainly because I have been filming all
day
I haven’t finished and at the moment I found it very
enjoyable. This is mainly because I like the proses and it gives
me the freedom to be as creative as I can
I had to learn about masking for the eyes and everything
else. It was generally just about finding an effect that I liked
and adding it to make it feel professional. For example, I
made the band scenes black and white
This shows me masking and creating keyframes for the bars
over the eyes. This scene wasn’t that bad but that is mainly
because it is still and he doesn’t move much.
