I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

a. Identify the procedure of proper hand washing and scrubbing.

b. Wash and scrub hands following the proper procedure.
c. Appreciate the importance of hand washing and scrubbing.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Steps in Giving Hand Spa Treatment

III. PROCEDURES

A. Preliminary Activities

3. Motivation
The students will watch a video clip and they will also share their
learnings from the video clips.

Ask:
1. What was the video clip all about?
2. What are the steps of proper hand washing?
3. Is hand washing important? Why or why not?

B. Presentation

1. Activity

The students will be grouped into 5 and each group is given strips
of paper. Each strip has particular step in hand washing and the students are
going to arrange the steps in order. Paste the strips of paper on the Manila
paper and post it on the board. Students are given 10 minutes to do the task.
Present your work in the class.
2. Analysis:

a. What are the step of proper hand washing?

b. Did you follow this hand washing procedure at home?
c. Why do we need to wash our hands?

A. Discussion

Hand washing

Washing- It is the process of removing dirt or cleaning the hands with

the use of soap and water.
Scrubbing- It is the process of removing the dead skin using scrubbing
lotion.

Procedures in washing and scrubbing the client’s hand

1. Remove any rings or other jewelry.

2. Disinfect your hand as well as the hand of the client with rubbing
alcohol or any disinfectant.
3. Use clean water and wet your hands thoroughly.
4. Use soap (liquid or bar) and lather very well.
5. Scrub your hands, between your fingers, wrists, and forearms with
soap for 15 seconds.
6. Scrub under your nails.
7. Rinse thoroughly.
8. Dry your hands with a towel.
9. Put scrubbing lotion on the hand.
10. Scrub each side of each finger, between the fingers, and the back and
front of the hand for two minutes to remove the dead skin.
11. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all the scrub particles
and dry hand with clean towel.

Materials needed for hand washing and scrubbing

1. Hand soap- a substance that is used for washing something.

2. Scrub lotion- is a skin care product whose primary function is to
remove dead skin cells through exfoliation.
3. Towel- a piece of absorbent cloth or paper used for drying oneself or
wiping things dry.
4. Alcohol- is an organic compound used as sanitizer.

1. What is hand washing?

2. What are the materials needed for hand washing?
3. What are the steps in proper hand washing? Do you follow these steps
at home?
4. What is the purpose of using scrub lotion?
5. Why is it needed to remove any jewelries and accessories before hand
washing?
6. Is it important to wash and scrub hands before applying hand
treatment? Why or why not?
 4. Application:

Using the materials and following the proper steps, the teacher will
show to the class how to do proper hand washing and scrubbing. Then
ask, 3 volunteer students to do the same.

IV. EVALUATION

Let the students find a partner and do hand washing following the
proper Steps. They are given materials needed and 10 minutes to do the
task and graded according to the criteria given.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Visit a salon and ask permission to the salon owner or manager. Make a
video presentation showing a customer having hand washing and scrubbing in
the salon. Interview the customer how she feels about the process. Show the
video presentation to the class.
