BRICK WORK ( 1 : 4 )

Brick Size 0.23 x 0.1 x 0.07

Volume of Brick 0.00161 m3

Say 12 mm thick mortar of brick layer

(0.23+0.006)x(0.1+0.006)x(0.07+0.006)

So Volume of Brick 0.001901 m3

No. of Brick for 1 Cum = 1 / 0.001901 = 526 No.

Volume of Brick for 1 Cum = 526 x 0.00161

= 0.84686 m3

Volume of mortar = 1-0.84686 = 0.15314 m3

Add 30 % for dry mortar = 0.15314 + 0.3(0.15314)

= 0.199 m3

Add 10 % for Wastages = 0.1 x 0.15314

= 0.0153 m3

Total Volume of mortar = 0.199 + 0.0153

= 0.214 m3 Say 0.2 m3

For 1 m3 Brickwork

Cement = 1 / 5 ( 0.2 ) x 28.8 = 1.152 Bag Cement

Sand = 4 / 5 ( 0.2 ) = 0.16 m3 Sand

PLASTER BASE COAT 12 MM THICK ( 1 : 4 )

Area to be plastered = 100 m2

Thickness of Plaster = 12 mm =0.012 m.

Volume of mortar required = 100 x 0.012 = 1.2 m3

Add 20 % Extra mortar for filling joint,depressions and wastage

Volume of mortar = ( 0.2 x 1.2 ) + 1.2 = 1.44 m3 ( wet volume )

Dry Volume = ( 1 / 3 x 1.44 ) + 1.44 = 1.92 m3

For 100 m2 Area

Cement = 1/5 x 1.92 x 28.8 = 11.06 Bag cement

Sand = 4 / 5 x 1.92 = 1.54 m3 sand

FINAL COAT 8 MM THICK ( 1 : 1 )

Area to be plastered = 100 m2

Thickness of Plaster = 8 mm =0.008 m.

Volume of mortar required = 100 x 0.008 = 0.8 m3

Add 20 % Extra mortar for filling joint,depressions and wastage

Volume of mortar = ( 0.2 x 0.8 ) + 0.8 = 0.96 m3 ( wet volume )

Dry Volume = ( 1 / 3 x 0.96 ) + 0.96 = 1.28 m3

For 100 m2 Area

Cement = 1/2 x 1.28 x 28.8 = 18.43 Bag cement

Sand = 1 / 2 x 1.28 = 0.64 m3 sand

Weight of Steel = ( π / 4 ) d2 / 127 Kg / Rmt.

Length of Bent-up bar = Length of straight bar – ( 2 x cover ) + ( 2 x 9 x dia of bar ) + 2 x 0.414 x d

Where d = Slab thickness – top cover – bottom cover – half dia. Of main bar at top – half dia. Of main
bar at bottom

Volume of Trepezoidal footing = ( L x B x d ) + h / 3 ( A1 + A2 + A1A2 )

OR

( L x B x d ) + h / 6 ( A1 + A2 + 4 Am )
