The level of proficiency is based on DepED Order #08, s 2015

The Table above showed the proficiency level of the 20 Grade 7 students.

Only four (4) students composed of two (2) boys and two (2) girls got a score

which when transmuted exhibited a proficiency level which was Fairly Satisfactory.

The sixteen (16) students got scores which were equivalent to a Proficiency level

which is Did Not Meet Expectation. Furthermore, the group registered a mean

score of 23.7 in a 40-item test. This mean score is equivalent to 73.25 when
transmuted using the transmutation stipulated as an Annex of D.O. #08, s. 2015.

This transmuted grade revealed a proficiency level which is Did Not Meet

Expectation.

The standard deviation of 1.52 showed that somehow the scores of the

respondents were closer to the mean score of 23.7.

Table 2 showed the proficiency level of the respondents during their

posttest or after the intervention was given.

Table 2 showed the proficiency level of the respondents after the intervention

or the Quipper school was given. It can be noted that no one got a score which would

give a transmuted grade equivalent to did not meet expectation. The scores ranged

from Fairly satisfactory to very satisfactory proficiency level. Four (4), ten (10) and

six (6) students registered a level of proficiency which is very satisfactory,

satisfactory and fairly satisfactory respectively. This resulted to their mean score

which when transmuted was equal to 81.7, which is fairly satisfactory. The standard

deviation of 3.33 showed that the scores were scattered from the mean.

The level of significance at .05 is shown in Table 3.

As shown in Table 3, there was an increase in the mean of the transmuted

grades of the respondents in the posttest compared to their pretest. The respective

standard deviations however, showed that the test scores of the Grade 7 students

were closer to the mean during the pretest than their scores in the posttest. At .05
level of significance, the difference in the transmuted grades of the respondents in

the pretest and posttest results were significant. This supported the study

In addition, Table 4 shows the test results of the 20-item formative

assessment given to respondents comprising the 5 macro skills in English namely

reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, speaking and grammar.

Below 75- Did not Meet Expectation 85-89- Very Satisfactory
75-79- Fairly Satisfactory 90 and above- Outstanding
80-84- Satisfactory

As shown in Table 4, of the 5 skills the student respondents registered the

highest mean in speaking followed by grammar, vocabulary and writing

respectively. The lowest mean was in reading comprehension. Furthermore, data

on Table 4 shows that the scores of the respondents were closer to the mean score

in grammar and has a wider spread in vocabulary. The mean of every skill when
transmuted and interpreted using Deped Order #8, s. 2015 showed that the

students score in the formative assessment ranged from satisfactory (80-84) to

Outstanding (90 -100).
