Hi, my name is Mike. I'm from Canada and this is for elllo.org. Today's topic is do young people in your country (0) have to serve in the army. Well, I'm from Canada
and people don't have to serve in the unlike countries like Singapore or for example Korea, where it is mandatory to serve for a certain period of time, for example,
two years. In Canada it's optional, and the next thing that you (1) might ask is which is better? Should you have a mandatory army or (2) should you have where it
is an optional service. I think both ways could be good. Having a mandatory service definitely instills some discipline in you and it's nice to see that discipline in a
certain people from a certain country, whereas from people from a country that don't (3) have to go the army, you (4) can see there is a bit of a relaxation with
them, which (5) could also be looked at as a positive note, so who knows if it's better to go to the army or not, but I like having the choice myself.
