Recommendations prior installation

This document is worked out as a recommendation to the yard on works to be done prior to
factory installation. The document also contains information about personnel,
tools/equipment and additional materials required during installation and start-up of
factory. Please note that the information in this document is subject to change depending
on the circumstances.

The content of this document can not prevail any conditions of the main contract.

All information is given per shipset.

Works to be done prior to installation


Ref. Checklist part 4. below

▪ The yard is responsible for transporting the delivery from the Yard/pier to the
approximate position (given from arrangement drawing) on the factory deck.
▪ Various shipyard operations such as base plates and mounting brackets in the
ceiling.

Personnel needed during installation


All assisting personnel must be able to communicate in English.

Tools/Equipment needed during installation


It is expected that the yard will supply proper lighting and ventilation to ensure a safe
working environment for the workers.
The shipyard must supply sufficient safety gear such as helmets, welding helmets, safety
glasses, dust protection masks, ear plugs, and work gloves.
The shipyard must arrange sufficient power and gas supply for welding machines, power
tools, etc.
The shipyard must provide necessary scaffolding for the installation.

above specifications:

2 Storage Yard is responsible for storing the equipment in a dry place covered for
dust, grinding and welding sparks et similar. Damages due to this require
remedial and will not be covered by warranty or free replacement.
3 Painting, surface treatment and Yard/ ship-owner supply. We want to stress the importance of protecting
isolation. all machine and stainless equipment against welding and grinding of
construction steel in the factory area. Damages due to this require
remedial and will not be covered by warranty or free replacement.
4 Steel work on ship structure. Yard/ ship-owner supply
5 Welding of foundation plates to deck Yard/ ship-owner supply
or any other ship structure. PE Bjørdal is responsible for tap welding equipment in right position.
6 Piping, isolation and connection of Yard/ ship-owner supply
freezers to refrigerating system.
7 Electrical connection work in factory. Cabling (equipment and works) between delivered connection
boxes/ operation panels is not included. Necessary brackets will be
decided (in consultation with ship owner) on spot and will be
charged as extras.
8 Hydraulic system Yard is responsible for installation of main pipes for further distribution
into factory.
PE Bjørdal delivers piping diagram.
PE Bjørdal will supervise the installation of hydraulic pipes into the
factory area.
In case of retrofit/rebuild it is important not to remove existing
hydraulics until approved by PE Bjørdal.
9 Factory lights PE Bjørdal AS is not responsible for locating or mounting of lights, cabling
and switches. PE Bjørdal does neither do the cable installation from
cabinets to equipment in our scope of supply.
10 Pipe arrangement for sea water supply PE Bjørdal installs necessary pipe sockets on tanks and chutes where
this is required.
Necessary piping, hoses or valves on main line is Yard supply.
Delivery of remote-controlled water valves is described as separate
item in specification if included.
11 Chutes in factory PE Bjørdal includes and mount factory related chutes according to
approved arrangement drawing.
12 Adjustment work on equipment from Interface for machines not included, must be adapted to the factory
sub suppliers to fit factory arrangement and approved by machine supplier / customer before
arrangement. Typical grader, packing welding to deck.

12 Gratings and working adjustable Grating or platforms described as items in above specification is

Grating is normally optional delivery available at request to PE Bjørdal
project manager.
Footsteps, railings and walk ways is optional at request.
We recommend slip safe composite gratings.
13 Yard discount Yard discount is not included in this quotation.
14 Approved escape and walk ways Minimum widths of main walkways are normally 700 mm.
Ship owner is responsible for this safety regulations as well as approval
of factory arrangement.
