Essential Points of Application for Admission in April 2019

Tokyo Metropolitan Tagara High School


1. Application
A total of 20 foreign students living in Tokyo will be admitted in April, 2019.
General Education Course 6 students
Foreign Culture Course 14 students

2. Qualification ( as of April, 2019 )


The applicant must
- live in Tokyo with guardian(s) and not be enrolled at any high school or college at the time of
applying to this school.
*Guardians are those who exercise parental authority over an applicant, therefore, basically his or
her parents.
- be registered as a foreign national.
- continue to reside in and commute from an address inside Tokyo after admission to this school.
- satisfy one of the three following requirements:
(a) The applicant must complete a 9-year educational course abroad by the end of March, 2019.
(b) The applicant must complete a 9-year course at an educational facility for foreign residents in Japan
which is equivalent to a 9-year course of Japanese compulsory education by the end of March,2019.
(c) The applicant must complete a 9-year educational course in Japan. The entry date must be within
three years after coming to Japan.

THE QUALIFICATION CONFERMATION INTERVIEW


In order to confirm the qualification as “foreign students living in Tokyo”, applicants, guardian(s) or person
who knows about educational backgrounds of the applicant are required to come to school with necessary
documents for an interview, prior to submitting the application.

3. Application Submission
(a) Time
Tuesday January 22nd, 2019, 9:00-15:00
Wednesday January 23rd, 2019, 9:00-12:00
(b) Required Form and Procedures
(1) The Official Application Form
(2) The certificate of the academic record of the applicant's last school year. This (These) document(s) must
contain a certification that the applicant has satisfactorily completed a 9-year educational course. This
(These) document(s) should be certified original(s) kept in a sealed envelope.

Those who have completed or will complete their 9-year education abroad or at an educational facility
for foreign residents in Japan: the transcript of the academic record of their last school year or an official
certificate for the completion of their latest course. Either must have a signature, stamp, etc. to show it
as an official document.

Those who are enrolled at or graduated from a junior high school in Japan: the certificate of the
academic record of their Japanese junior high school.

(3) "Juminhyo Kisaijiko Shomeisho (Certificate of Registered Matters)" of the applicant (様式応3)
It must be issued after December 1st, 2018.
In the case that it is impossible to submit this document, please inform the school office.

(4) The Form of Entry Date


The applicant qualified by 2 (c) is required to submit this form in which the date of entry into Japan is
recorded. (The entry date must be within three years.)

(5) The Applicant's Personal History

(6) Other Matters


The applicant can be asked to submit other extra documents, according to the situation.

An extra form is required from applicants who


-do not live in Tokyo now but are certain to be living in Tokyo by the 1st day of school.
-live in Tokyo but attend a school outside of Tokyo.
Please ask for these forms at the school office.

(7) Entrance Examination Fee (¥2,200)


Applicants are required to pay ¥2,200 after December 1st, 2018 to the specified banks or post offices
using a payment form. The specified banks or post offices are listed on the back of the payment form.
The receipt of the fee has to be attached to the back of the Application form and be shown at the time of
the application.

(8) Special Arrangement Request Form (様式30)


Those who prefer examination question sheets with hiragana printed above each kanji should submit
the special arrangement request form.
The name of your junior high school principal and the official seal of the school are not necessary for
applicants who do not attend a junior high school in Tokyo.

(9) Application Submission


Place: Tokyo Metropolitan Tagara High School
The application should be submitted to the school office by hand.
No corrections can be made once the application has been submitted.

4. Examination
(a) Examination Subjects
Composition and interview in either Japanese or English
( Prior to submitting, choose either Japanese or English )
(b) Date
Date: Saturday January 26th, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.
The exact timetable is shown on the Admission Ticket. Each individual student will have a
different examination time.
(c) Test Site
Test Site: Tokyo Metropolitan Tagara High School.

5. Announcement of Successful Applicants


(a) Date and Place: 9:00 a.m. Friday February 1st, 2019 at Tagara High School
(b) Notification to the Successful Applicants
A certificate of acceptance (Goukaku-tsuchisho) will be given to the applicant or the parent(s) at the school
office. Please refer to 6. Entrance Formalities below for the date.

6. Entrance Formalities
Successful applicants are expected to complete the "School Entrance Agreement Form" within the period
stated below in order to conclude the entrance formalities:
Friday February 1st, 2019 9:00-15:00
Monday February 4th, 2019 9:00-12:00
Those who have not completed the entrance formalities within the above-mentioned period will be regarded
as having withdrawn their application.
The School Entrance Agreement Form is invalid unless The School Entrance Fee of ¥5,650 is paid.
Payment deadline is specified in the Certificate of Acceptance (Goukaku-tsuchisho).

7. Other Matters
(a) Applicants who do not comply with the Application Qualifications, have failed to complete and present all
the necessary forms, or have given false statements, will be disqualified even if they were notified they were
accepted to Tagara High School.
(b) Students who successfully pass the examination cannot apply to be admitted to any other Tokyo
Metropolitan High School.
(c) All classes at Tagara High School are taught in Japanese except for foreign language classes.
