Choose an advertisement from the web, television, or a magazine in which sexuality is used to sell a
product. Answer the following questions as they pertain to your chosen ad.

1. What product is being advertised?


The product is a vanilla protein shake by Syntha-6.

2. Describe the setting, if any, of your chosen ad (e.g., beach, gym, car, friendly gathering).
The ad takes place on the beach, with the sun and the ocean in the background. However, not 
much of the setting can be seen because the shot is a close up of the product.

3. Describe the people in your advertisement (e.g., adults, children, families).


There is only one person in the advertisement, and she is not fully shown. Only her rear-
end can be seen, with a bottle of the advertised protein shake on top. She is wearing a revealin
g bikini bottom that shows most of her rear end and the string of her bikini top. We also see her 
hand and her hair hanging down. She is tan and attractive which helps to sell the product.

4. Is any factual information given about the product? If so, what?


"SHAKE WELL" is the only information given about the product. These words are large and obvi
ous in the ad, showing a connection between the woman and the protein shake.

5. What image or message is the advertiser trying to get across with this ad? Make your response
detailed and specific.
The advertiser is trying to get across the message that the drink they are selling needs to be sh
aken well, and there are lots of other good things that are made better when they are shook. Th
ey are trying to lure in customers by connecting the shaking of a woman's butt to the shaking of 
their protein drink before enjoying it. The advertiser is speaking to men and saying that shaking 
makes anything better, including their protein shake.

6. According to the advertiser, what will this product do for you?


This product will make give you 40 grams of protein, and it will taste much better after being sha
ken. The advertiser wants us to think that it will taste just as good as seeing an attractive woma
n shake their butt.

7. Why do you think sexuality was used to sell this product?
The advertiser is trying to catch the eye of potential customers with a clever comparison betwee
n tan, attractive, female butts and a simple protein shake. The sexuality within the ad grabs vie
wers and could even make them laugh or aroused, leading to them remembering the product an
d potentially purchasing it.
