IMPROVEMENTS IN SAILING PERFORMANCE. ALL

INCREDIBLE LEVELS.
ZERO EMISSIONS

Life is a reflection of our environment. By combining technologies and innovative

solutions we are able to construct a true, pure zero emissions yacht.

The basic regenerative electric propulsion concept is simple. Instead of using

diesel or gasoline engines in the yacht, Daedalus Yachts are propelled by twin
electric motors directly connected to the propeller shafts and drawing energy
from large battery banks. When the yacht is sailing, the energy of the passing
water causes the propellers to rotate, which, in turn, causes the electric motors
to become generators that recharge the batteries onboard.

When the battery banks become full the excess electrical energy is stored in the
form of Hydrogen.  Depending on the sailing speed, continuous free and clean
power of over 50kW can be generated and stored. New advances in propellers,
electric propulsion, battery technologies, solar panels and hydrogen systems
make this possible giving us the ability to operate with ZERO EMISSIONS.

TECHNOLOGY
New design concepts, new materials, and cutting-edge
engineering and systems have been applied to achieve clean
green performance, strength, and quality. Industrial techniques
borrowed from aerospace and automotive areas lead to better
engineering, better functionalities and controllable, repetitive
and reliable quality of structural parts and systems.

The owner gets an attractive package and a high degree of

customization. The key concepts behind the design and
engineering choices are simplicity, reliability and easy/low
maintenance of the yacht. In this area, we have feedback from
hundreds of yachts we have built in carbon fiber over the past
34 years.

Finite element (FE) calculation methods were used to study

stress areas and optimize fiber orientation, laminate weights,
and structures using high-security factors.

Computational Fluid Hydrodynamics (CFD) allowed the

optimization of the flow along the hull and around foils, to find
the best configuration of drag, lift, stability and control. The
hulls are not designed to any rule but more to be clean and
balanced, fast, sea kindly and forgiving under all conditions.

Our 3D-design enables perfect geometry definition and control

and a parallel development process using the expertise and
experience of numerous design/engineering groups worldwide
at the same time.New design concepts, new materials, and
cutting-edge engineering and systems have been applied to
achieve clean, green, performance, strength and quality.
