ABSTRACT

Water is one of the most important to human, a person can’t live for days without water.

Poor hygiene practices and inadequate sanitary conditions play major roles in the increased

burden of communicable diseases within a community as well in provision of adequate

water supply, sanitation; hygiene and waste management in every household.

This study used the descriptive-correlation study design with correlational analysis, with

30 households of Brgy. Bunu-anan Catbalogan City. To properly answer the posted

specific questions, researchers used descriptive design in order to reflect profile of the

respondents in terms of age, educational attainment, number of family members, and

occupation.

Majority of the resident- respondents were housewife and other occupation, as a perception

towards water sanitation and hygiene among households on knowledge, grand weighted

mean was posted at 3.38 means “moderately knowledgeable”. The resident-respondents

posted an attitude of “uncertain” with respect to the perception of the preventing water

sanitation and hygiene among household’s member which posted the grand weighted of

3.33. This study revealed, that respondent came up to by the grand mean 3.61 which means

“sometimes” in terms of practice in water sanitation and hygiene.

This study, the researcher had known that the resident should attend programs in water

sanitation and hygiene, so that they can renew their learning and correctly impart to the

resident with update topics related to our water sanitation and hygiene practices.

Households need guidance to improve their knowledge, attitude and practice in water

sanitation and hygiene in relation to water management for the safety of their family.
