Lines, Lettering and Dimensioning

(data for this sheet is given)
Sheet 2. Orthographic Projections

(A) Draw
(1) Front view,
(2) LHSV and
(3) Top view
Use first-angle projection
method.

(B) Draw
(1) Front view,
(2) LHSV and
(3) Top view
Use third-angle projection
method.
Sheet 3. Engineering Curves

(1) Two points A & B are 100 mm apart. A point C is 75 mm from A

and 45 mm from B. Draw an ellipse passing through points A, B, and
C so that AB is a major axis. Use “Concentric circles” method.

(2) Construct a parabola, when the distance of the focus from the
directrix is 50 mm. Draw normal and tangent to the point of parabola.

(3) A circle of 25 mm radius rolls on the circumference of another

circle of 150 mm diameter and outside it. Draw the locus of the point
P on the circumference of the rolling circle for one complete
revolution of it. Name the curve & draw tangent and normal to the
curve at any point.

(4) A string is unwound from a circle of 20 mm diameter. Draw the

locus of string P for unwounding the string’s one turn. String is kept
tight during unwound. Draw tangent & normal to the curve at any
point.
Sheet 4. Projections of Straight Line

(1) A line CD, 75 mm long, is inclined at 45 to the HP and 30 to the
VP. Its end C is in the HP and 40 mm in front of the VP. Draw its
projections and find inclinations with reference planes.

(2) The end A of line AB is in the HP and 25 mm behind the VP. The
end B is in the VP and 50 mm above the HP. The distance between
end projections of line AB is 75 mm. Draw the projections of the line
AB and determine its true length, traces and inclinations with the two
planes.

(3) A point M is 50 mm below the HP and 12 mm behind the VP.

Point N is 10 mm above the HP and 25 mm in front of the VP. The
distance between end projectors of M and N is 40 mm. determine the
traces of the joining M and N.

(4) The room is 4.8m4.2m3.6m (lbh). Determine graphically the

distance between a top corner and the bottom corner diagonally
opposite to it.
Sheet 5. Projections of planes

(1) A square plate PQRS, edge 25 mm sizes, is in space with one of

its corners on VP. Surface of the plate makes 60º with VP. and it is
perpendicular to HP. Draw its projections.

(2) A regular pentagonal plate of 30mm sides has one of its corners on
H.P. The plane of the pentagon is inclined at 45º to the HP. The side
of the pentagon, which is opposite to the corner, which is on HP is
inclined at 30º to the VP. Draw the projections of the plate.

(3) ABCD is a rhombus of diagonals AC=120mm and BD=60mm. Its

corner A is in the HP. and the Plane is inclined to the HP. such that
the plan appears to be a square. The plan of diagonal AC makes an
angle of 30º to the VP. Draw the projections of the plane and find its
inclination with HP.

(4) A regular hexagonal plate 40mm side is resting on one of its edges
on HP. The plane makes an angle of 30º to HP. and its longest
diagonal makes an angle of 45 º with VP. Draw its projections.
