BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION

In many remote locations, where electricity is needed, wind turbines are now widely used. It serves as one of the
lowest-priced renewable energy technologies available today because wind supply is abundant. In addition, it is a
sustainable and clean source of fuel that does not pollute the air as a power plant that relies on fossil fuel combustion,
such as coal or natural gas. Therefore, atmospheric emissions causing acid rain or greenhouse gasses will not be
produced.

As Muids students, we realise the importance of saving the world by reducing the rate of fuel combustion, so we
aim to do a general research and construct a model, which could be used to demonstrate the functions of each parts of
the wind turbine.we created a wind turbine made of cardboard and added the circuit to generate electricity. To create
electricity, the kinetic energy from blades spinning is converted into electricity. We strongly believe that people will
value more about clean and renewable resources.
BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION

What is wind?
- It is created from atmospheric changes: temperature and pressure.
- Rotation of the earth
- Activated by the sun (a type of solar power)
What is the importance of wind turbine?
- wind turbines are widely used in several remote locations
- Wind supply is abundant, it serves as one of the lowest-priced renewable energy
technologies available today.
- Using wind is sustainable and environment-friendly

DISCUSSION OF PHYSICS CONCEPT

- Transformation of energy is when the energy is changed to other form.

- Energy transformation happens every second and everywhere as a result of law of

conservation of energy

- Energy is always conserved in the universe and simply changes from one form to another.

- There are many ways to convert energy.

- the kinetic energy from the wind is detected by the wind turbine.

- The rotor spins and produces the mechanical energy

- The generator is activated by the movements of the blades. This movement is kinetic energy,

which is converted into electricity.

DISCUSSION OF DESIGN
1. Find the physics related topic (Transformation of energy)

2. Find information about that topic ex: cencepts, model

making video etc.

3. List materials needed for making the model

4. Research about transformation of energy

5. Started working on the model such as makign house, wind

turbine, etc.

6. Learn how to connect the circuit

7. Connect the circuit, and observe the spin and its direction

8. Fixed all mistakes such as blades and motor

9. After observed, start writing the lab report and poster

10. Prepare the presentation

ANALYSIS OF DATA

- Initially, we made a flat blade, but it merely move. We found that curve shape
might be important.
- We change from flat blades to curve blades to make it easier to spin and receive
more wind.
- We use a card board as a material to made blades
- The curves blades works, but it doesn’t provide as many revolutions as we
expected.
- We change the blades shape into a wide circular-tip to maximize its potential in
receiving the sufficient amount of wind
- This time the blades are made by plastic.
- It works since the blades rotate much quicker that it can extract more energy.
- The model of the house and its environment is made to illustrate a rural scenario
and remote areas, where electricity is hardly accessed.
CONCLUSION

As a result, we succeed in proving the concept of transformation of

energy. By observing, we found wind makes blades spin, and kinetic energy
obtained from spinning was converted, and transformed through wires to light
up the LED. In other word, motor can generate kinetic energy from the wind
turbine to electrical energy. In addition, Both location and types of blades play
the important role in conversion process. Wind is better obtain by curves blades,
while open location can where tall wind turbines are place affect the rate of
rotation
RECOMMENDATION
- prepared materials earlier so that the work will be finished faster with less obstacle.
- aware of selecting some materials such as motor given that there are different kinds of motor, and some cannot fit our model. Avoiding this
problem, we will not have to unnecessarily spend money on motor.
- be more careful when using sharp and hot tools to avoid unexpected emergency.
- This project help us recall physics and crafting skills, and also provides us life skills and strengthen members’ relationship.
