General Objective :-
After the teaching the topic, student will be able to enhance their knowledge about Communication, its process,
method of effective communication,& its barriers and apply this knowledge in their practices.

a) Interpersonal communication— .
The most common channel of
communication is the interpersonal or
face to face communication. Being
personal and direct it is more
persuasive and effective than any
other form of communication.
Interpersonal communication is
particularly important in influencing
the decision of the undecided
persons. The superiority of
interpersonal communication over
mass media for creation of
motivational effect has been
documented.
b) Mass media –
In mass communication, the channel
is one or more of the following “
mass media”, e.g. radio, printed
media, etc. mass media have the
advantage of reaching a relatively
larger population in a shorter time
than is possible with other means.

Summary:-
Communication is necessary to get along with people, to win their respect, to gain confidence and co operation, to
understand them and to be understood. Communication is necessary in all situation and settings.
Conclusion:-
Communication is a two ways, goal directed process and it is very imp. In any area of life like teaching, nursing etc. lack of
communication skills is probably one of the greatest weaknesses in hospitals today. So as a nurse you must be a good
communicator so that the patient nurse relationship is maintained properly.
