ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PURPOSE

This assignment is worth 20 marks and is designed to develop learners’ ability in applying
the business and professional writing skills. Learners will also be tested in organizing
information and write a good memo, which is a common practice in workplace
communication.

SCENARIO

You are the leader of a team project. You have received an instruction from the
management of your organization to start a new project. Therefore, you need to call for a
meeting to inform your team members of their contributions to the new project. In order
to make sure that everyone has a clear concept of what the project is and what their role
is, you need to write a memo to distribute at the meeting.

TASKS:
For this assignment, you need to study the above scenario. Then;
1. Identify the type of memo that is suitable to be prepared based on the given
scenario.
2. Prepare a memo by applying the correct type and format of the identified memo.
3. Make sure that parts of the memo will include a company heading, description of the
project and tasks / role for each member.
4. Give reasons / explanation for the type of memo that you have chosen. Where
relevant and appropriate, cite references to material that you have read.
5. Your answers must be written in a form of memo maximum of 2 to 3 pages memo,
excluding appendices (if any).
