Scope
The questions for this competition will be formulated from the following
categories:
Mechanics
1. The event shall be on September 17, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the
School of Computer Studies (SCS) rooftop.
2. Each team will be provided with white board and marker (illustration board
and chalk).
3. The questions shall be asked in the English language. Contestants are not
allowed to bring anything during the competition except their own pens. Use of
mobile phones and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited.
6. Leaving the venue is not allowed unless permitted by the event coordinator.
7. There shall be three rounds: The Brave Ones, The Heroes, and The Chosen
One.
For every question, there will be 4 possible answers. Every correct answer
is equivalent to 2 points.
Answers should be written before the allotted time has elapsed. The
boards must be raised immediately.
In case of a tie, tie breaker questions will be asked until the deadlock is
broken. Tie breaker question/s shall have no bearing on the scores of the
contestants. The first team who raises their board and gets the correct
answer shall qualify to the next round.
There will be five (5) random questions from the fifteen (15)
multiple-choice questions that will require teams to decide whether they accept
or reject to answer. If the team chooses to accept, they will get double points
(+4 points) if they answer correctly; otherwise they get double deduction (-4
points). If the team chooses to reject, they will not be allowed to answer the
certain question. The team has to decide before the question will be read.
However, the category of the question will be announced. For easier tracking,
the team has to raise a white cloth (to be provided by the facilitators) if they
accept to answer.
Scores from previous round will be added to the scores in this round.
For every question, the teams shall be provided with three possible
answers and a free-choice to write the answer which they think is correct.
One or none of the specific choices may be correct. It is thus the discretion
of the teams to come up with the right answer either by choosing one
among the three choices given or writing their own answer equivalent to
five (5) points. However, a correct answer taken from the choices provided
is only worth three (3) points.
Answers should be written before the allotted time has elapsed. The boards
must be raised immediately.
Only the top five (5) scoring teams will advance to the next round.
In case of a tie, tie breaker questions will be asked until the deadlock is
broken. Tie breaker question/s shall have no bearing on the scores of the
contestants. The first team who raises their board and gets the correct
answer shall qualify to the next round.
The teams will get the chance to earn bonus points of 5 points if they will
be able to solve the rebus puzzle of the round. Throughout the round, before
the question will be read, a random rebus puzzle will be flashed. However, not
every question has a rebus puzzle. Participants are encouraged to be attentive
in order to not miss the chance. Each team could only have one attempt of
answering the puzzle. Once they answered wrong, they could not try guessing
anymore. This is first come first serve basis. First to raise the cloth will be
accommodated first. The team to answer shall be given twenty (20) seconds.
Maximum of 3 teams could only guess the puzzle. If the first 3 teams could not
give the answer correctly, quizmaster will start asking the next question. All
teams have to wait for another flashing of rebus puzzle for the next bonus
point.
Scores from previous round will be added to the scores in this round.
There will be five stations. In every station, there is a question the team
must answer. There will be a police station that will oversee every action
made.
If the team has an answer, the answer sheet shall be given to the station
police. The team could not take back the answer sheet once the answer
sheet is submitted and will not be permitted to answer again in the same
station.
There will be no time limit in every station. However, team is given only ten
(10) minutes to accomplish the Chosen Ones Round, which is 10 minutes
to answer all the questions assigned in the five stations.
In case of a tie, tie breaker questions will be asked until the deadlock is
broken. Tie breaker question/s shall have no bearing on the scores of the
contestants. The first team who raises their board and gets the correct
answer shall have the higher rank.
In every station, there will be a puzzle to be solved before the team could
proceed to the question. The team is only given a maximum of two (2) minutes
to solve the puzzle. If the team is able to solve the puzzle, their score for
answering the questions will be doubled. If the team will get the wrong
answer, the score shall remain as is.
12. Quiz umpires will be present to address complaints who in turn shall be
addressing the same to the Board of Judges. Complaints should be raised
before the next question is revealed. Otherwise, as soon as the quizmaster
starts reading the next question, any protest shall no longer be entertained.
