Scholarship Search

Read this article on types of financial aid: https://www.shmoop.com/college/grants-

loans-scholarships.html
In 3-5 sentences, what is the difference between a loan, grant, and a scholarship?
Loans are amounts of money that can help you pay for your school career, however,
you need to pay that amount money back. A scholarship is when a person or
organization pays for part of, or your entire, collage career. A grant is an amount of
money, usually from the government, that can go to you or can go to aid the cost of
your tuition.

Read over this article, then describe 5 ways you would check to make sure a
scholarship is not a scam:

1. By using the resources at the school’s financial aid office

2. Make sure you’ve researched the scholarship thoroughly

3. If the scholarship asks for money to cover any costs associated, it’s not

legitimate

4. If a scholarship is “guaranteed” it’s probably not real

5. If a scholarship is a “contest” that you haven’t entered, or doesn’t have clearly set

guidelines, it’s most likely not real
