Exercise 1 Complete the sentence with the right form of the adjective in the bracket.

i. Economics is more difficult (difficult) than Mathematics.

ii. We stay at the cheapest (cheap) hotel in the city.

iii. I prefer this dress to the other one. It is more colourful (colourful).

iv. Gordon and Nancy have three sons. Ken is the eldest (old) among them.

v. Doris was sad yesterday but she looks happier (happy) today.

vi. What is the quickest (quick) way to finish the job?

vii. It is one of the worst (bad) experiences in my life.

viii. This skirt is too short. I like a longer (long) one.

Exercise 2 Make a new sentence with the words provided. Use the appropriate forms of the
adjectives given.

E.g. small book – cheap – big book

The small book is cheaper than the big book.

i. Rolex – expensive – Swatch

Rolex is more expensive than Swatch.

ii. Changjiang – long river – in China

Changjing is the longest river in China.

iii. Mandy – I – pretty

Mandy is prettier than I.
