This assessment record is also a great tool to share with parents so they
can follow their child’s progress at school, understand their child’s
strengths and challenges, and plan how they can help extend the learning
into their homes.
There are two different types of assessment systems. Both are used to
guide decisions about a child’s development and program resources.
The process of choosing the right assessment tools varies for each early
childhood program. Below are some general guidelines for implementing
assessment into your program.
The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) support the use of
child assessment systems in preschool settings to help educators
individualize instruction and improve programs. To find more information
on early childhood assessment, visit the EEC website
