In the name of Allah the most Merciful the most Gracious

Islamic Beliefs
Islam is a complete code of life, as it is stated in the Holy Quraan:

ِ ‫ْاليَ ْو ََمَأَ ْك َم ْلتََلَك َْمَدِينَك َْمَ َوأَتْ َم ْمتََ َعلَيْك َْمَنِ ْع َمتِيَ َو َر‬
‫ضيتََلَكمََا ْ ِْلس ََْل ََمَ َِدينًا‬

This day I have perfected your religion for you and completed my favor upon you and
have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (Surah: A maidah, Verse no: 3)

Therefore, Islam has discussed every aspect of human life, whether it be beliefs,
worships, mutual contracts, Social relations, or manners. It guides its followers in every
problem they encounter. Here Islamic beliefs are being talked about.

Whoever embraces Islam or believes in it has to accept these upcoming doctrines:

1. Belief in unity of Allah the Sublime.

Further it is divided into three kinds:

 Unity in His entity( Tawheed fi al zat)

 Unity in His attributes(Tawheed fi alsifaat)
 Unity in His worship(Tawheed fi aleibadaat)
2. Belief in all His angels that they are his slaves and creatures.
3. Belief in al l divine books and scriptures that they were revealed by Allah the
Creator, to His Prophets (Peace and Mercy be upon them all)
4. Belief in all His messengers that they were sent by Him and were His Pious
slaves.
5. Belief in hereafter and in resurrection.
6. Belief in good fortune that is from Allah the Lord of the world.
7. Belief in bad fortune that is from Allah the Eternal.

This is why most of the Muslims make their children learn forthcoming sentences by
heart.

 ‘I believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the hereafter, good and
bad fortune that is from Allah the Almighty and resurrection after death. ’

Let us talk about each one of them separately:

1. Belief in unity of Allah the Sublime

‫احدََ ْالقَ َهار‬
ِ ‫ش ْيءََ َوه ََوَ ْال َو‬

َِ ‫ّللاَخَا ِلقََك‬ َِ ‫ق‬

Say Allah is creator of everything and He is the One, the All-Dominant.

ِ ‫اح َِدَ ْالقَ َه‬

َ‫ار‬ ِ ‫لِلَِ ْال َو‬
ََ ِ َ‫س َم َواتََ َوبَ َرزوا‬ َ ِ ‫ْرَ ْاْل َ ْر‬
َ ‫ضَ َوال‬ ََ ‫يَ ْو ََمَتبَدَلََ ْاْل َ ْرضََ َغي‬

The day on which this earth will be turned into some other earth, and the skies as well,
and they all shall appear before Allah, the One, the All-Dominant.
4
َ‫احدََ ْالقَ َهار‬
ِ ‫ّللاَ ْال َو‬ َْ ‫لَ ِإنَ َماَأَنَاَم ْنذِرََ َو َماَ ِم‬
َ َ ‫نَ ِإلَهََ ِإ‬
ََ َ‫ّل‬ َْ ‫ق‬

Say: I am only a Warner, and there is no god but Allah, the One, the All-Dominant.

َ‫احدََ ْالقَ َهار‬
ِ ‫ّللاَ ْال َو‬ َ ‫ص‬
ََ َ‫طفَىَ ِم َماَيَ ْخلقََ َماَيَشَاءََس ْب َحانَهََه ََو‬ َْ َ ‫ّللاَأ‬
ْ ‫نَيَت َ ِخ َذََ َولَدًاَ َّل‬ ََ ََ‫لَ َْوَأ َ َرا َد‬

Had Allah opted to have a son of His own, He would have definitely chosen anyone, as
He wished, out of what He had created. (But), Pure is He. He is Allah, the Only One, the
All-Dominant.

ِ ‫اح َِدَ ْالقَ َه‬

َ‫ار‬ ِ ‫لِلَِ ْال َو‬
ََ ِ َ‫نَ ْالم ْلكََ ْاليَ ْو ََم‬ ََِ َ‫ّلَيَ ْخفَىَ َعلَى‬
َ َ‫ّللاَ ِم ْنه َْم‬
َِ ‫ش ْيءََ ِل َم‬ َ َ َََ‫ارزون‬
ِ َ‫يَ ْو ََمَه َْمَب‬

The day they will come in open view. Nothing about them will remain hidden from
Allah. To whom belongs the kingdom today? To Allah alone, the One, the All-Dominant.

All of the aforesaid verses of the holy Quraan unambiguously state that Allah is the only
one. No one is His partner neither in His entity nor in His attributes. Consequently, He
must be worshiped alone.

2. Belief in all His angels

ََ‫ََولَدًاَس ْب َحانَهََ َب ْلََ ِع َبادََم ْك َرمون‬ َ َ‫َوقَالواَات َ َخذ‬
َ ‫ََالرحْ َمن‬
They said: The Rahman (the All-Merciful, Allah) has taken children for Himself. Pure is
He (from having children). They are but (His) honored servants.

ََ‫اَوه ْمََشَاهِدون‬ ْ ‫أ َ ْمََ َخلَ ْقن‬
َ ً ‫َاَال َم ََلئِ َكةَََ ِإنَاث‬
Or, had we created angels as females while they were witnessing?

ََ‫ََوي ْسأَلون‬ َ ََ‫ش ِهدواَخ َْلقَه ْم‬
َ ََ‫ست ْكت َب‬
َ ‫ش َهادَته ْم‬ َ َ ‫ََالرحْ َم ِنََ ِإنَاثًاَأ‬ ْ ‫َو َج َعل‬
َ ‫واَال َم ََلئِ َكةَََالَذِينَََه ْمََ ِعبَاد‬

They have held angels, who are the servants of Rahman, as females. Have they
witnessed their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.

These verses of the holy Quraan obviously tell that the angels of Allah are His slaves and
creatures. Neither are they feminine nor His daughters.

3. Belief in al l divine books and scriptures

ََ‫نَقَ ْب ِلك‬
َْ ‫لَ ِم‬ ََ ‫َ َوالَذِينَََيؤْ ِمنونَََبِ َماَأ ْن ِز‬
ََ ‫لَإِلَيْكَََ َو َماَأ ْن ِز‬

And who believe in what has been revealed to you and what has been revealed before
you; and they have faith in the Hereafter.

َ ‫سى‬
َ ‫سىَ َو ِعي‬
َ ‫يَمو‬ َِ َ‫وبَ َو ْاْل َ ْسب‬
ََ ِ‫اطَ َو َماَأوت‬ ََ ‫لَ َوإِ ْس َحاقَََ َويَ ْعق‬ ََ ‫لَإِلَىَإِب َْراه‬
ََ ‫ِيمَ َوإِ ْس َما ِعي‬ ََ ‫لَإِلَ ْينَاَ َو َماَأ ْن ِز‬ ََ ِ‫قولواَآ َ َمنَاَب‬
ََ ‫الِلَِ َو َماَأ ْن ِز‬

ََ‫ّلَنفَ ِرقََبَيْنَََأ َ َحدََ ِم ْنه َْمَ َونَحْ نََلَهََم ْس ِلمون‬ َ َ َ‫نَ َربِ ِه َْم‬َْ ‫يَالنَبِيُّونَََ ِم‬
ََ ِ‫َو َماَأوت‬

Say (O, Muslims): We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us, and in what
has been revealed to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Yaqub(Jacob)
and his children, and in what has been given to Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus) and what
has been given to the prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between any of
them, and to Him we submit ourselves.

ََ ‫نَ َي ْكف َْرَ ِب‬

َِ‫الِل‬ َْ ‫نَقَبْلََ َو َم‬
َْ ‫لَ ِم‬ َِ ‫علَىَ َرسو ِل َِهَ َو ْال ِكت َا‬
ََ َ‫بَالَذِيَأَ ْنز‬ َ َ‫ل‬ََ ‫بَالَذِيَن ََز‬ َِ ‫الِلَِ َو َرسو ِل َِهَ َو ْال ِكتَا‬
ََ ‫َياَأَيُّ َهاَالَذِينَََآ َ َمنواَآ َ ِمنواَ ِب‬

َ ً ‫ض ََل‬
‫ّلَ َب ِعيدًا‬ َ َ‫ل‬ َ ََْ‫َو َم ََل ِئ َكتِ َِهَ َوكت ِب َِهَ َورس ِل َِهَ َو ْال َي ْو َِمَ ْاآلَ ِخ َِرَفَقَد‬
ََ ‫ض‬

O you who believe, do believe in Allah and His Messenger and in the book He has
revealed to His Messenger and in the books He has revealed earlier. Whoever disbelieves
in Allah and His angels and His books and His Messengers and the Last Day has indeed
gone far astray.

All of the above mentioned verses of the Holy Quraan are evident of believing in all
divine books and scriptures as they were revealed by Allah the Merciful to His Prophets.

The Messenger has believed in what has been revealed to him from his Lord and the
believers as well. All have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His
messengers. We make no division between any of His messengers, and they have said:
We have listened, and obeyed. Our lord, (we seek) Your pardon! And to you is the return.

َ‫نَتؤْ ِمنواَ َوتَتَقواَفَلَك َْمَأَجْ رََ َع ِظيم‬ ََ ‫فَآ َ ِمنواَ ِب‬
َْ ‫الِلَِ َورس ِل َِهَ َو ِإ‬

So, believe in Allah and His messengers. If you believe, and fear Allah, you will deserve
a great reward.

َْ َ‫ّللاَِ َورس ِل َِهَ َويَقولونَََنؤْ ِمنََبِ َب ْعضََ َو َن ْكفرََ ِببَ ْعضََ َوي ِريدونَََأ‬
َ‫ن‬ ََ َََ‫نَيفَ ِرقواَبَيْن‬ َْ َ ‫الِلَِ َورس ِل َِهَ َوي ِريدونَََأ‬
ََ ِ‫نَالَذِينَََيَ ْكفرونَََب‬ ََ ِ‫إ‬
ْ َ ْ
‫يَلَأولَ ِئكَََهمََالكَافِرونَََ َحقًّاَ َوأ ْعتَدْنَاَ ِللكَافِ ِرينَََ َعذَابًاَم ِهينا‬

َ ً ِ‫سب‬
َ َََ‫يَت َ ِخذواَبَيْنَََذَ ِلك‬

Surely those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messengers, and wish to make division
between Allah and His Messengers, and say: We believe in some (messengers) and
disbelieve in some others, and wish to take a way in between that, those are the
disbelievers in reality, and We have prepared a humiliating punishment for the
disbelievers.

There are a lot more verses of the holy Quran which assert that every Muslim has to
believe in the all Prophet (Peace and Blessing be upon them all) as Allah’s slaves and His
messengers.

5. Belief in hereafter and in resurrection

ََ ََ‫الِلَِ َو ْال َي ْو َِمَ ْاآلَ ِخ َِرَ َوأ َ ْنفَقواَ ِم َماَ َرزَ قَهم‬
ََ َََ‫ّللاَ َوكَان‬
‫ّللاَ ِب ِه َْمَ َع ِلي ًما‬ ََ ‫َو َماذَاَ َعلَ ْي ِه َْمَلَ َْوَآ َ َمنواَ ِب‬

What harm was there for them if they had believed in Allah and the Last Day, and spent
out of what Allah had given them. Allah knows all about them.

َِ ‫ّلَيَدِينونَََدِينَََ ْال َح‬

َ‫قَ ِمنَََالَذِينَََأوتوا‬ َ َ ‫ّللاَ َو َرسولهََ َو‬ َ َ ‫ّلَ ِب ْاليَ ْو َِمَ ْاآلَ ِخ َِرَ َو‬
ََ َ‫ّلَي َح ِرمونَََ َماَ َح َر ََم‬ َ َ ‫الِلَِ َو‬ َ َ َََ‫قَاتِلواَالَذِين‬
ََ ‫ّلَيؤْ ِمنونَََ ِب‬

ََ‫صا ِغرون‬ َ َ‫نَيَدََ َوه َْم‬ ْ
َْ ‫َابَ َحتَىَي ْعطواَال ِج ْزيَ َةََ َع‬ ََ ‫ْال ِكت‬

Fight those people of the book who do not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day, and do
not take as unlawful what Allah and His messenger have declared as unlawful, and do not
profess the faith of truth; (fight them) until they pay jizyah(Pole tax) with their own
hands while they are subdued.

ََ َ‫نَكَانَََ َي ْرجو‬ ََ َ‫ل‬
َ ‫ّللاَِأس َْوةََ َح‬ َِ ‫لَقَدََْكَانَََلَك َْمَفِيَ َرسو‬

There is indeed a good model for you in the messenger of Allah, for the one who hope in
Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah profusely.

This belief is distinction of all divine religions. None of the human made religions
believe neither in the Last Day (The Day of Judgment) and nor in hereafter.

6. Belief in good fortune that that is from Allah the Lord of the world
Once the holy Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) among his companions all of the
sudden Jibreel (Gabriel) came and set before him and started asking him different
questions. He was unusual in the asking questions as he raised queries and verified the
answers simultaneously. Among those was the query about the faith that is as under:

َ‫قالَفأخبرنيَعنَاْليمانَقالَأنَتؤمنَباہللَومَلئكتهَوكتبهَورسلهَواليومَاآلخرَوتؤمنَبالقدرَخيرہَوشرہَقال‬
.19‫صدقت‬

Gabriel said: Tell me about the faith? The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said:
It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His prophets, the Last Day, and to believe
in fortune good and bad. (Gabriel) said: You said the truth.

َ‫عنَجابرَبنَعبدَہللاَقال قالَرسولَہللاَصلىَہللاَعليهَوسلمَّلَيؤمنَعبدَحتىَيؤمنَبالقدرَخيرہَوشرہَحتىَيعلمَأن‬
َ 20‫ماَأصابهَلمَيكنَليخطئهَوأنَماَأخطأہَلمَيكنَليصيبه۔‬

Jabir son of Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates, he said: Messenger of
Allah (Peace be upon him) said: one is not believer unless he believes in good and bad
fortune and knows that what happened to him was not going to miss him and what missed
him was not going to be happened.

These traditions of the holy Prophet (Peace and Mercy be upon him) and similar to them
uncover necessity of the belief in good and bad kismet.

7. Belief in bad fortune that that is from Allah the Lord of the world
This belief has been discussed under the previous heading.

In nutshell every single person has to believe in all of abovementioned doctrines to

embrace Islam. If any Muslim denies any one of them (Allah forbids) will not remain
Muslim. May Allah save us all and forgive our entire shortcomings.
