1. Lesson Aims and Objectives

o How to provide a clear outline of our aims in our


lesson plan :
 Main aims: to introduce /revise and practice
phrasal verbs example: The word‘’down”

 Target item : To turn someone down, to hold down a job , something is


getting you down , to close down , to settle down , to cut down , to step
down from a position and let down.
 Subsidiary Aims: to pre-teach other vocabulary
necessary for understanding of the story.
 Target items: demanding (adj.) , to juggle commitments(v.) tempting
(adj.) to take a nose dive.

• Is the language contextualised?
• Have you clearly conveyed and checked meaning? Has this been done
sufficiently often?
• Is appropriacy made clear?
• Have you hightlighted from?
• Have you planned for board and an opportunity for students to copy down
an accurate record?
• Do the students have a clear and natural model at an appropriate moment?
• Have you hightlighted problematic aspects of pronunciation?
• Are the practice activities appropriately staged?
• Do students sufficient practice?
• Is there sufficient variety of interaction?
• Is the time allotted to each activity appropriate?
• Is there an opportunity for creativity/personalisation?
• How will you give instructions? Are they clear and concise?
• Is there any vocabulary in the instructions or cures which students will not

NAME: LEVEL: Pre-intermediate TIME: 25 mins

Main Aims: to introduce/revise/practice phrasal verb with “down”.


Subsidiary Aims: Pre-teach other subjects involving in the word “down” in
story.

Assumptions: students listen to the story carefully in grammatical structures


Anticipated Problem: Explain the meaning of phrasal verbs
Solutions: focus on difficult meaning of the language and choose your own meaning
to
explain them

Materials: Give the vocabulary worksheet to them

Main Aim: to provide/practice the basic greeting “hello, My name is …”


Linguistic Aims: to teach and give restricted practice to expose students to the
sound system via a comprehensible anecdote

Personal Aims: to relax the students in their first lesson.


Anticipated Linguistic Problem:
Step 1: Pronunciation

Solutions: Clear modeling and drills/Delaying writing the word until pronunciation has been
driiled
Anticipated Problems: Please don’t write problems such as ‘the tape recorder
might not
work’
