the opportunity to attend and see first hand art displays and
artists at work. The high school student will also have
opportunities to produce works of art themselves, involving
painting, drawing, work with clay and work with fibres. It
would be expected that their ability to draw, paint etc.. will
be improving through teaching and through observing how others
deal with the various aspects of art. Opportunities will be
provided to make such real life things as posters, cards,
wrapping paper and labels. The basics of colour, perspective
etc.. will be taught. Also the student will learn the art of
calligraphy. There will also be many opportunities for doing
craft.

MUSIC

The high school student will be exposed to a wide range of

music and composers including folk, classical, baroque,
gregorian chant, polyphony, contemporary and sacred songs. As
well as hearing these, the student will have the opportunity
to play many of these forms through his study of a musical
instrument ( at this stage the recorder, and the piano). The
student will also have the opportunity to learn to sing a wide
variety of musical styles, as well as the opportunity to have
the experience of singing in a group and performing on stage.
The student will also be exposed, where possible, to live
performances of music.

DRAMA

The high school student will continue to have opportunities to

participate in and perform works of drama. He will also have
the opportunity, as external resources etc.. permit, to attend

basics of sewing, knitting and crocheting begun last year (for a more detailed listing see year seven). As talent and
interest dictate, the student will have the opportunity to a
more detailed and intricate study of any or all of these
areas.

DOMESTIC ARTS

As part of the necessaryneccessary preparation for adult life, the high

school student will be trained in the practical application to
everyday life of the concepts learnt in art. For example the
student will learn appropriate colour and design combinationscombinations
in dressing, interior decorating, flower arranging etc...The
student will learn to understand and use to advantage the
effects of different music. The student will use visual appeal
in laying the table for different occasions.

General Recommendations:
Reading Comprehension by Wordly Wise Grades 1-12 G
Living My Religion Series Bks.1-8 and Teachers Manual. J

S.A.T. TEST : details from ACER centres in Capital Cities

Remember:
Start with the basics. If you are using a Series of Books, begin with some stage earlier if necessary, even if child is not
in that grade then you will cover more ground quickly. You may need to retreat several grades in basics to progress satisfactorily.
(For example, if your child has not done phonics in grade 3, you may need to go back to introductory phonics and proceed
quickly to level 3 to ensure adequate understanding.) Social Studies could also be used as Reading Comprehension.

Then pray, pray pray.
