Christmas is an
annual festivalcommemorating the

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Kris
Kringle, Father Christmas, or simply Santa, is a
legendary figure originating in Western
Christian culture who is said to bring gifts to
the homes of well-behaved ("good" or "nice")
children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and
the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25
December). The modern Santa Claus grew out
of traditions surrounding the historical Saint
Nicholas (a fourth-century Greek bishop and
gift-giver of Myra), the British figure of Father
Christmasand the Dutch figure
of Sinterklaas (himself also based on Saint
Nicholas). Some maintain Santa Claus also
absorbed elements of
the Germanic god Wodan, who was associated
with the pagan midwinter event of Yule and
led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession
through the sky.
At Christmas it is typical to have turkey dinner,
but instead of stuffing, accompanied by a
cranberry sauce. However, many families
prefer to change the turkey for ham or beef
ribs, the famous "prime rib".

dejado Santa Claus. Además, este día
se celebra una cena en familia donde
suele haber pavo, puré de patatas con
salsa y pasteles salados.
El árbol de Navidad natural es una
tradición que los americanos no pueden
saltarse. Como una especie de ritual
familiar, toda la familia va junta a
comprar el árbol en el conocido como
Christman tree decoration party. Los
pinos naturales suelen comprarse en las
conocidas como Chsristmas Tree Farms.
Todos los miembros de la familia se
reúnen para decorar el árbol.
La Navidad en EE.UU. también se
caracteriza por varias tradiciones

galletitas de jengibre o Christmas
