SUPERVISION OF INSTRUCTION

Supervision is one of the most important processes and activities needed in the teaching
learning processes of the pupils. It is also one of the most important functions of the supervisor. It
helps a lot in the supervisee to perform her/his duties and responsibilities correctly and
meaningfully and to improve some points in the teaching strategies and pedagogies that needs to be
improved inside the classroom.

Yesterday’s topic touches about supervisions that has no definite meaning as to managing,
supervising, evaluating, assessing ,etc and supervision is a relationship, one should possess a trait
of being a good listener and should have good communication between two parties. As they say one
should listen from the heart in order internalize the value of being a good listener that attributes to
being a good teacher and a facilitator inside the classroom. It must have feedbacking and
redirection after every supervision.

Another topic was the Core Function of Supervision: One of which is appraisal. It
emphasizes of getting an accurate quality of instruction inside the classroom on the part of a
teacher whether she is good, effective or highly effective. But administering the supervision inside
the classroom has some advantages and disadvantages. It assesses the teacher competent base on
her performance only during the prepared and announce evaluation where the teacher try to show
off only during the said evaluation. Appraising the teacher performance is time consuming. Some
teachers are just passive in term of evaluation. It also defeat the purpose if the supervisor just focus
herself on the write-up of the lessons without roaming around and checking the works and activities
of the pupils. Principal’s presence changes the scenario inside the classroom because there are
teachers that is just performing well if the principal is there and pupils behave well if there are
other person inside the classroom. So Supervision must be done in such a way that, it will not
hinder or affect the teaching learning process of the pupils.

Supervision of Instruction

Leadership is the act of leading people or an organization. To be a leader one should


possessed good qualities to be fitted such title or position.
In my 23 years in the teaching position I believe that I have reached the pinnacle level
of leadership in my teaching career. My pupils and the parents follow me because they
knew me already for a longer period of time and I gain the respect of peers and my
superior in the teaching profession because straight forward attitude based on moral
values. Likewise former pupils who have become successful in their respective career and
their parents still keep me updated with regards to their in life here and abroad. As such, I
tried to be consistent and teach my pupils properly always giving emphasis on good moral
values in all matters.
