TIME ULTIMATUM
Introduction.
I am doing the Graphic side of the time ultimatum, so I must create three posters, two banners and a single
website graphic takeover. I have had a total of 6 weeks to complete these tasks and I am nearing the end of the
time period. I feel as though keeping up to date with the evaluation is the same to the daily blog by adding to it
every time, I make a new bit of progress. As I am writing this, I have completed my three posters and they have
all been uploaded to my Weebly page and I have written a paragraph on them. At the beginning of the time
ultimatum I started off with my Weebly page and beefed it up with a lot of different research such as looking for
different types of advertisement such as public advertisement by having big movie posters such as in big
generally populated areas such times square where they have promotional plots to put your adverts. I also went
into a bit of detail on clothing advertisement and how there are different types of styles that people wear and that
making a clothing that fits all those different types of people so people will wear a graphic of your movie. I also
put different examples of advertisement such as in a rural area on a billboard located near the town centre, also
in Leicester square and finally also in New York, Times square. Whilst going into a lot of detail about my research
I also kept up to date on my daily blog as I feel as though it would be crucial as if I was to forget what I had done
from a couple weeks or even days back I would be able to just take a look and the blog and then I am able to see
what I have recently done. Through the middle of my Time Ultimatum is when I started my posters and they took
around a total of two weeks to make all three of them, I worked on them most days apart from the weekend as I
work full days then. The first week I also just did a lot of searching and gaining inspiration for my posters and I
also feel that this did a lot even and I made one of my posters heavily inspired through a John Wick poster. The
third week is when I will start on my banners and website graphic and finish off my evaluation.

Describe your role.

I didn’t quite understand the question “what did you do?” and from this I thought it meant what choice I was
completing and I took the Graphic side of Time Ultimatum, I decided this as I thought it would be more sensible to
work alone as I feel as though working with my colleagues wouldn’t have been as efficient and I wouldn’t be
entirely sure that I could’ve completed it in the time period I had to complete the entire Time Ultimatum. My main
responsibilities were probably making the correct decision on what I was going to do. As I wanted to do the TV
side and complete that as I really enjoy that side of media, but I didn’t want to risk the fact that I couldn’t trust my
peers to be able to complete the task in the time period given. I now looking back on it feel as though I made the
right decision as I have also really enjoyed making graphics, doing the research and taking the photos and being
able to use the lighting and experience and do different shots. My role whilst taking the photos was setting up the
shots, lights and making sure the camera was in full swing where it worked properly and that the shots were okay
to be took onto the next stage for editing. I also used different lighting as in the poster you can see that they have
a red glow and a little blue glow, I accomplished this by using the lights and then putting a plastic blue and red
filter over two different lights and angled them at Ryan, my colleague and I angled the lights at him In to different
spots and how it worked was that the red light was aiming at his right side and the blue light his left side and I
took a photo facing him but a little to the left side so his body was flowing red as that was the light shooting at
him. I wasn’t in the team as I chose Graphic but I did work with several colleagues in different pieces of work
such as shooting my shots with Ryan, I would say this took around 1 hour of time through a Thursday and it was
nice and simple shoot, I also helped out other colleagues such as Joe who needed an actor for his movie and we
filmed for a while but I didn’t feel as though we used time efficiently especially as we all have stuff to do as but he
also asked me to have a look at his script and give my opinion. I’ve never been very good at planning but from
this I feel as though I did plan well as I used my time very efficiently and didn’t waste time at college and did quite
a bit of side work at home as my tutor advised me to as well. Doing so I would say mostly that I have done a
complete 60% at home and 40% at college as I attempted a lot of different ideas for movie posters at home. I feel
the plan changed a lot as for most of the build up to the time ultimatum my plan was to go ahead for the tv side
where at the end and I had a sensible discussion with my tutor about what was best for me to go ahead with and
I decided Graphics was the best outcome for the situation I was in. The change effected my whole time ultimatum
as I was choosing a whole different option and I feel as though the end product wasn’t damaged in any way at all
but instead boosted from the change as I was able to work alone and not have to feel pressure but be able to
work when I wanted and when needed. From this experience of changing my subject I feel this showed me that
changing what I feel confident in to something less confident but working through it really isn’t as big of a deal as
I would’ve thought, at the start of my time ultimatum I thought that I would’ve been behind at start as I had a few
ideas running through my head with the TV option but then things changed of course. And my contribution to my
work of course was all me but I also helped out other colleagues where I was in there films, I was helping out my
friend with giving my opinion on scripts, helping shoot other poster pictures with a friend, and generally helping
out my friends who needed any help or suggestions that I feel could help and boost there product stand out more.

What have you learned?

The skills I have learned from taking the graphic routes is a very long depth of features, I learned so much in
photoshop from my tutor, online YouTube videos and myself going through every button I could possibly find, In
photoshop I am so much more confident with the programme than I was just even a couple months ago as I had
been using photoshop so much more as I had also invested in the programme at home. In photoshop I have
learnt how to mix different fonts where they look like they fit instead of randomly mixing them together as you can
see in main poster I put a different fonted text named “grind and death” where I put it in-between a “movie text
CF” and that was also from an poster I was inspired by. I gained a lot of skills from the camera work as I was
shown how to take RAW photos and then editing them in photoshop by changing the scales and I’m aware they
have different subjects and names but I’m not aware of that yet, but I am sure I will be soon. Dragging in the
photos from the library to photoshop and then the raw option pops up and that is where the sliders come through
at start, I was sliding them about to get a cool effect but of course after a while I realised the sliders were options
I knew that they could change colours and general effects on the graphic. My skills also helped out others where
my friend would ask about what to do with a document in his PC and because I have owned my own desktop for
a long time I find it with ease to browse around the PC and help my friends with topics they might struggle with
and could take some time with whereas I am able to help them out and make time with more efficiency. The
Knowledge I got from this was a lot, Overall, I wouldn’t be able to summarise my total gaining of knowledge. I
have learned a lot of information on the graphic side on the makings of posters and banners and how many
different genres there is of not just movies but movie posters. I would say the posters I completed were all mostly
colourful action movie posters trying to give off a more futuristic look. I gained most of the knowledge in the
photoshop programme, Learning how to edit RAW photos, how to add and customise effects to my photos,
Download and use different types of texts, keeping my layers neatly compact and editing the layers through
groups so they all have that same effect which is what I did a lot of the time with the smaller pieces of text. I didn’t
have many Production issues as I feel as though I was able to plan out what I was doing for the next period of
work and then do it without any issues. The main issue has been discussed and that was myself and choosing to
do graphics over media. My organisation was one of the best things I feel I’ve done in this from keeping my
Weebly very clean and organised as I kept all the documents and text items in groups, I kept my daily blog to a
detailed minimum as I didn’t find the blog as necessary as the rest so this was the side project I kept to a
minimum. In Photoshop I was always well organised as I made groups for the layers and had named the photos
to backgrounds, doing this I was able to find where I had edit and move about. In Weebly I had my slots all in
different titles EVALUATION AND REFLECTION, FINAL POSTERS, PRACTICE SKILLS AND PRESENTATION,
TITLE, PLANNING AND PRODUCTION, ADVERTISEMNT, SKETCHES, COMPARISONS AND
DESCRIPTIONS, DAILY BLOGS AND RESEARCH. These all above are all subtitles for my Time Ultimatum
page on my Weebly and these have helped me keep very organised. Overall for organisation I learned to be
patient as taking just 1 minute to change my folder name, document name, document location and what my
layers are called all helped tremendously in the long run as it saved a lot of time of me running around the
document library. For the personal/team work I was involved in both as of course I did the graphic side of the
Time Ultimatum and this meant that I worked alone and that a lot of my work was independent as I asked my
tutor sometimes for help on my work and an opinion my work. However, I worked with a group quite a lot at
college helping my colleagues with there filming and this took up quite a lot of time in college overall and from this
I did quite a lot of work at home. I learned mostly in team work in filming is that someone must take charge and I
let whoever’s project it was do so, I filmed quite a lot for my colleagues and suggested and filmed many different
angles for my course mates. What am I proud of? From this final project I haven’t done any thing like this before
and I generally enjoyed it. I really enjoy Photoshop and all this final project was myself doing photoshop and
searching and writing about it. doing something I enjoy I really find it easier to do and concentrate. So, making
posters and editing it was the easiest part about the project as I enjoyed playing with the colours, effects and
fonts. I feel as though everything went well and the only sort of bump in the road was of course not being able to
choose the TV side of Time Ultimatum, but I really feel this has benefited and been for the better. For the future I
wouldn’t change much as I haven’t had any problems at all. A great example for this is that it took me a total
week to finish this document.

Where do I go next?
The skills I would like to improve on would be concentration on word documents or in general longer shifts on
working as I would say that a lot of the times, I start off with my work that I am not as interested in and then forget
to do it. But overall there really aren’t any skills I can think off my head but really in general it is my concentration
as I feel as though I get caught getting interested in something, I would never find interesting suddenly very
interesting. I feel as though there are many skills I need to and would like to acquire and generally gaining more
knowledge towards photoshop and premiere pro. Obviously my contribution to my project was all me but I feel as
though I have helped out my colleagues tremendously such as for one of them I took vital final days in college to
film for my peer and also was in my peers project and took up a total of 1 minute on his film beefing it up. So I
also had a big contribution to other teams and I feel this shows me off as a team player as I helped out people
who needed a hand even when I had to finish work as I knew that I could do work at home as I have the
programmes at home as others might not.

Finished project
I definitely feel as though my finished products fit the agreed requirement as I spent a lot of time off college
working on it as also a lot of time in college and next time knowing what happened with this project I feel as
though I should stick to the sensible option where I know that I would be “safe” and that I knew I would be able to
complete this without any percentage of me failing.
