Objective: To study rate of condensation of refrigerant with
temperature of water running in coil-type condenser
Apparatus: Flow Boiling Unit, Refrigerant (R-141-b)
Theory Background:
Condensation: It is the process of physical change of matter from gaseous state
to liquid state. This process is the reverse process of vaporization.
Deposition: It is the process in which gaseous phase of fluid is directly changed
into solid phase. This process is the reverse process of sublimation.
Sublimation: The directly conversion of solid state to gaseous state is known as
sublimation.

Flow Boiling Unit: It is an apparatus, on which the whole process of boiling

takes place by different methods.

Procedure:
Water is passes through electric heater, where its takes heat and with the help of
centrifugal pump it moves in a concentric pipe arrangement where it transfer its
heat to refrigerant. At certain temperature, refrigerant starts boiling (at 32oC) and
its Vapours moves to collector. In collector a coil is placed from in which water is
circulating which is coming from chiller. The cold water takes heat of vapors and
set them condense and then this refrigerant goes back to concentric pipe.
Observations:
 One way value is used in venturimeter so water does not flow towards
collector.
 We reduce pressure at throat up to certain level so that water does not gets
mixed with the vapors of refrigerant.
