Real Care Alternate Project

As an alternative to participating in the real care baby program you have decided to do an
alternate project.

Part A: Write a Pre-Care Journal

• What would you do if you are unable to care for the baby (because you are driving, in the
shower etc)?

• What would you do if you go angry or frustrated with the baby?

• Do you feel ready to care for the baby? Write a brief description of how you think this
experience will go.

• Do you have everything you need to start caring for the baby?

• What expectations do you have about the task of caring for this infant throughout the school
day,

at home after school, and during the night?

• What kind of physical or emotional strain are you anticipating?

• What do you expect the reactions of others will be? (Think of friends, family, and community
members.)

Part B: Create a Birth Certificate and Birth Announcement

Birth Certificate
The birth certificate you create for your infant must include the following components: the full
name of your infant, date of birth, location of birth, weight and length at birth, name of one or
both parents, and the name and signature of a witness. You can find templates at http://
templatelab.com/birth-certificate-templates/

Birth Announcement
In the birth announcement, acknowledge the happy arrival of your infant and include the
following: the infant’s gender, weight, relatives, and notes of thanks to all who made this
possible. You may include an image.

Part C: Interview

Write questions and interview others who have experienced the Real Care Babies –
Compose 20 survey/interview questions from your parenting research that can be used to
interview others. Only 5 of the questions may be yes/no answer questions. The rest must
be full answer questions. Interview at least 5 student in the class, who have taken the real
care babies, with your questions. You are also required to interview 5 friends or family
members that have children of their own. Be sure to record the full answers of your
interviewees. Compile the answers and discuss what you learned about the experience of
taking the babies through your survey. Refer to specific answers given by the students,
friends & family members you interviewed. Your reflection should be a minimum of 1
page. You must submit your questions, the answers and your reflection to get full marks
on this task.
