Dear Madam or Sir,

I write to apply for a position in the Master of Science in Information Technology programme,
offered at Ostwestfalen–Lippe University of Applied Sciences-Lemgo. With my current
experience as an Information Technology/Telecommunication professional, I wish to expand
my technical knowledge of information technology and turn my focus towards the wide-scale
applications of this expertise in the ever evolving Information Technology and
Telecommunications Industry. By reading the course curriculum available online, I have found
that the subject matter covered will best suit my career goals.

By trade, I specialise in Optimization of 3G and 4G-LTE networks and provide high level
support solutions to Telecommunication Vendors and operators alike. As part of my role I liaise
with subscribers regarding their complaints and issues affecting the Quality of Services they
get, analyse the problem and proffer solutions ranging from physical optimization, soft
expansion to meet their capacity demands and assist with technical data, quality management,
and in turn, produce insightful reports. Additionally, as it is a quite challenging and demanding
industry, my role often demands that I relate with customers whose networks are being
managed from end to end. During this role, I undertook and completed networking and cyber
security courses. The purpose of which was to better my understanding of how the
telecommunication are being inter-connected and also be able to guarantee that the customer
network is adequately protected from threats that could result in violation of cyber security
conducts and breach of contractual agreements. My responsibility, diligence and technical
know-how and management aptitude were integral to the role, however, it was clear that my
progress was decelerated by my lack of technical, information technology-related, training.

The advancement in recent years from 2G/3G networks to 4G-LTE networks, and 5G networks,
coming in the not too distant future addresses the next step in my professional development.
The telecommunication network is changing from what existed initially, where CS (voice)
domain and PS (data) domain were distinguished based on the type of services being offered,
to a digital enterprise/network where both voice and Data services are routed through an all IP
Protocol Radio Access Network. This remodelling of a Radio Access Networks implies the
need for large investments in hardware and software infrastructure and in people with the right
skillset to meet this demand. The combination of subjects such as ‘Network Security’ and
‘Communication of distributed systems’, ‘Industrial software engineering’ and ‘Software
Engineering for Web Services’, ‘Innovation and Development Strategies’ and ‘Management
Skill and Business Administration’ ‘Process-oriented Information Systems’ contained in the
curriculum of study would contribute to my professional ambitions and entrepreneurial
aspirations.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from Ladoke Akintola

University of Technology in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria. During my degree, I was very
active in many facets of university life. I completed a number of internships around my
university campus, working for small business owners as an IT support Engineer. This gave
me an outlet to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and also sparked my interest
in Information Technology. Further to this I remained engaged in university affairs by
volunteering for the Student Ambassador program. In this program, my duties varied from
taking prospective students on tours, introducing and guiding guests of honour, and speaking
to secondary schools student around Nigeria regarding the importance of Information
Technology to their education and the nation as a whole. Furthermore, I was highly committed
to the development of a hitherto non-existent Programmers Club. Taking over the committee
in the first semester of my third year, I had plans on developing the club to be a self-sustaining,
award-winning, and socially interactive club. Forming a committee of coding enthusiasts, our
club achieved all of the aforementioned goals within the duration of my degree and were
awarded numerous accolades. Lastly, with all of the responsibilities at hand, I remained vigilant
with my academic performance. I was hence able to achieve a Second Cass upper grade with a
4.1 out of 5.0 cumulative grade point average.

My ambition to study in Germany stems from a dearth of equivalent professional programs

offered in Nigeria. As mentioned earlier, the future of telecommunications in Nigeria will
demand a workforce with a specialised skillset. With this degree I would like to meet this
demand and, in the future, be a pioneer in the management and protection of the evolution of
information systems. Furthermore, Germany’s geographic location and current economic
strength attract industry experts from around the world. With the notion of idea-sharing in mind,
this would be a perfect ground to establish the next step of my professional career.

With all of my experience listed, I am in pursuit of bringing my career to the next level. The
subjects offered in this program are specifically in line with my professional goals. Additionally,
studying in Germany will provide a great platform for me to further experience divergent
cultures and exchange knowledge. I am confident that the knowledge and skills learnt from my
professional experience, university, and extracurricular activities would make me a valuable
addition to the Masters of Science in Information Technology program offered at Ostwestfalen–
Lippe University of Applied Sciences - Lemgo
