Students: "No."
Teacher: "Why?"

One picture shows the

 The teacher will ask the
students some questions
related to the video they've
watched.

Teacher: "Do you think the

German trainee understood
the German trainer?"
Students: "Yes, because
they are both Germans."
Teacher: "So how are these
two pictures different?"
Students: "The people in the
first picture understood
each other but the people in
the second picture didn't."
Teacher: "Very good. There
was an effective
communication in the first
picture. Do you have an idea
what communication is
based on the video and
pictures I've shown you?"
Students: "Communication
is conveying messages or
information from one
person to another through
mutually understood
language or signs."
Teacher: "Well done!"

 The teacher will introduce

the nature of
communication --
Teacher: "That's the nature
of communication:
-Communication is a
process.
-Communication occurs
between two or more
people.
-Communication can be
expressed through written
or spoken words or both at
the same time."

 The teacher will have

selected students do
pantomime in front of the
class. The rest of the class
will guess what it is. (5
minutes)

Teacher: "There are nine

elements of communication:
speaker, message,
encoding, channel,
decoding, receiver,
feedback, context and
barrier. Please identify the
elements present in the
pantomime activity and
explain why you think so."
Students: "The speaker was
the one who did the
pantomime because he/she
was the source of
information."
The message was the
information they want to
tell us through their actions.
The encoding was the
process in which the
message they want to
convey was converted into
actions. The channel was
the medium in which the
encoded message was
conveyed -- non-verbal. The
decoding was when we
interpreted the encoded
message. The students
guessing are the receivers.
The receivers' reactions and
responses are the feedback.
The context was the
classroom -- where the
communication took place.
The barrier was the noise
outside the classroom.
Teacher: "Well done!"
