PLANNED RITUAL: Our Bodies

Gather (Introductory Rites)

Entrance Hymn: We are called

Come! live in the light!
Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord!
We are called to be light for the kingdom,
to live in the freedom of the city of God!
We are called to love tenderly.
We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.
Come! Open your heart!
Show your mercy to all those in fear!
We are called to be hope for the hopeless,
so all hatred and blindness will be no more!
Sing! Sing a new song!
Sing of that great day when all will be one!
God will reign and we'll walk with each other as sisters and brothers united in love!

Opening Prayer
Let us Pray.
Father, we praise You for this, and every day that we get to wake up on this side of heaven. Each day
is laced with purpose and we ask for your wisdom and guidance through every one.
We give thanks for the gift of our bodies and pray that You will guide us to use our gifts to give glory
and honour to God.
Help us live each day well and for Your glory from start to finish.
We ask this through Christ the Lord.
Amen.

FOCUS (Liturgy of the Word)

First Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 12-14 (One Body With Many Members)
12
For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the many parts of that one body are one body,
so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we are Jews or
Gentiles, whether we are slaves or free, and we have all been made to drink of one Spirit. 14 The body
is not one part, but many.

Responsorial Psalm

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 15-16 (One Body With Many Members)
15
If the foot says, “Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the
body? 16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of
the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were
hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has established the parts, every one of
them, in the body as it has pleased Him. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 So
there are many parts, yet one body.
21
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the head to the feet, “I have no need
of you.” 22 No, those parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those parts of
the body which we think are less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor. And our
less respectable parts are treated with much more respect, 24 whereas our more respectable parts
have no need of this. But God has composed the body, having given more abundant honor to that
part which lacks it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that the parts should have
the same care for one another. 26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is
honored, all the parts rejoice with it.

Gospel Acclamation (Sung)

Alleluia, alleluia!
“I am the living bread that will give eternal life,” says the Lord. Alleluia.

Gospel: John 6:51 (The Bread of Life)

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

Jesus said 51 ”I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he
will live forever. The bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live.”

their suffering. Lord, hear us.
3. For all those who are lost, that will guide them in the right direction to give honour and glory
to God. Lord, hear us.
4. For all those who are overwhelmed by sickness, that you bless them and give them the gift of
strength. Lord, hear us.
5. For all those who suffer mental illness, that you give them the gift of peace and help them
love themselves. Lord, hear us.

Offertory Hymn: Take My Life, and Let It Be
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

Take my hands and let them move

at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice and let me sing

always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold;

not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it thine;

it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour

at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.

Recessional Hymn: Beloved, Let Us Love One Another

Beloved, let us love one another,
For love is of God,
And everyone that loveth is born of God
And knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God,
For God is love.
Beloved, let us love one another.
