MAKALAH PRESENT CONTINOUS TENSE

Present continuous tense is used to express an act or event that is ongoing and has not been
completed at the present time

Misalnya: - I am cooking right now

Present continous tense terbagi menjadi 3 yaitu

- [positif]
- [negative]
- [introgatif]

usually this tense uses additional verbs such as ing, such as eating, washing, reading, etc.

the formula for the present continuous tense

[+] S + am/are/is + VI{ing}
[-] S + am/are/is + VI{ing}
[?] Am/are is S + VI{ing}

CONTOH:
[+] I am listening to the radio
{Saya sedang mendengarkan siaran radio}
[-] They are not taliking about yout
{Mereka tiak membicarakan tentang anda}
[?] is he watching TV ?
{Apakah dia sedang nonton TV}

NOTE:

1. Verbs that describe feelings like like, dislike, refuse, want and others. ING cannot be
added even though the sentence is said when an event is taking place.
2. Verbs that have to do with the senses such as hear, see, smell, notice, taste, etc. also
cannot be added-ING.
3. Verbs that express thoughts or opinions such as belive, expect, forget, prefer to realize,
remember and others also cannot be added-ING.
4. Verbs that show ownership such as Owe, own, belong to and others also cannot be added
by ING.

1. I am studying english at school now.[ Saya sedang belajar bahasa inggris di sekolah
sekarang ].
2. He is reading a newspaper now.[ Dia sedang membaca koran sekarang ].
3. She is washing her cloth for this time.[ Dia sedang mencuci pakaiannya sekarang ini ].
4. They are spending their holiday at Jakarta now.[Mereka sedang menghabiskan waktu
liburannya di Jakarta ].
5. My brother is playing a game now.[ Saudara saya sedang bermain game sekarang ].
6. My father is watching a movie on the TV now.[ Ayah saya sedang menonton film di TV
sekarang ].
7. I am managing my online business.[ Saya sedang mengatur bisnis online saya ].
8. He is taking a bath now, please wait.[ Dia sedang mandi sekarang, harap tunggu ].
9. It is raining season.[ Sekarang ini sedang musim hujan ].
10. The moon is shining.[ Bulan sekarang ini sedang bersinar ].
11. The phone is vibrating now.[ Ponsel tersebut sedang bergetar ].
12. The bus is coming.[ Bus tersebut sedang tiba ].
13. Fikra is in Paris at the moment. He is staying at Van’s Hotel.[ Fikra sedang di Paris. Dia
sedang istirahat di Hotel Van’s ].
14. My parents is living on Indonesia.[ Orang tua saya sedang tinggal di Indonesia ].
15. She is teaching at the moment.[ Dia sedang mengajar sekarang ].
16. The Nile river is flowing into Mediterranen.[ Sungai nil sedang mengalir ke Mediterranen
].
17. We are planting tomato at the moment.[ Kami sedang menanam tomat pada saat ini ].
18. She is drying her laundry now.[ Dia sedang mengeringkan cuciannya sekarang ].
19. He is speaking with his friend now.[ Dia sedang berbicara dengan temannya sekarang ].
20. Kagami is fighting with his friend now.[ Kagami sedang berkelahi dengan temannya
sekarang ].
