ABSTRACT

Establishing a methodological basis implies taking a position criticism against the various
theories that have emerged throughout history, of teaching foreign languages and have
tried to explain how to learn a language.

Methodologies for teaching foreign languages have evolved throughout history mainly
from linguistic and psychological languages.

The acquisition of a second language is a complex process. Through scientific research,

we have come to a better understanding of the processes that take place and the factors
that influence them. Learning itself is not simply a matter of intelligence and fitness but
also of attitude and motivation. This has been an area of interest for foreign language
teachers and psychologists.

In all areas of learning, motivation is essential to succeed. There are two aspects that
are especially important in learning a second language: the communicative need and the
attitudes of the students towards the community that speaks it.
POSITIVE POINT

Once you have decided to learn a language you will realize how quickly your confidence
will increase. Your progress will provide you with enough motivation to continue learning.
In addition, you will receive admiration from those who do not have enough motivation
to learn a language. Even native speakers of that language will be impressed by your
ability and will no doubt be pleased if you speak their language, or at least try.

NEGATIVE POINT

This is one of the main advantages that, as elderly and mature people, we can perceive.
It is mainly due to the fact that a child who grows up mastering 2 or 3 languages from a
young age, will surely achieve perfection in the language, before reaching the age of
majority. What later in his university studies, will open doors of work, possibilities of study
abroad, in universities of world prestige and an infinity of good and positive things, thanks
to the bilingual education received.
DEVELOPMENT

For many people, learning a second language is an expected consequence of their social
environment, necessary for communication. When a person perceives the need to
communicate with others, obviously this will increase their motivation to learn the second
language. For this reason there is so much emphasis on studying abroad when possible.

The importance of the attitude of the person about the foreign culture has been proven.
The language a person uses is connected to the way he perceives his identity and his
world.

Consequently, when you learn the language of another culture, you accept the
other way of perceiving the world, to a certain extent. When a person has a positive
impression of the other culture, this can increase and enrich the learning process. On
the other hand, if an apprentice has a negative attitude, this will create strong internal
barriers (Hernández, pp. 141- 153, 1999).

There are some benefits, such as the fact that it is more economical, you can opt for
unconventional teaching methods, you can have a more personalized education and
oriented to your interests and difficulties, you can really immerse yourself in the language
and get materials from virtually everywhere, even of those who are not used in your
country to learn. But to succeed learning is in your hands, so you must be responsible
and proactive. We bring you some tips to succeed in your self-learning.
CONCLUSION

By looking at the different definitions, positions of other researchers, we can see that this
struggle to identify, classify and define and perhaps apply the best teaching strategy.

 A general way to increase students' motivation is to create courses that

encourage them to perceive the language as an instrument of communication
value.

 Another way is to provide many opportunities to practice. Knowing what we know

about learning, how can we specifically stimulate the interest and motivation of
students in the classroom?

Since not all students have preconceived notions that influence them in this way. For
these students, their experiences in the classroom become very important. So the
instructor occupies a unique and powerful position to influence the formation of a positive
attitude and motivation that the students are forming about the culture in question.

In this way we can see an important classification of the strategies that will help us with
the English language to obtain greater advances in the teaching-learning process, so we
could see the perception of other researchers, who have left a legacy to teaching with
his great contributions.
