PREFACE

It is a pleasure to keep this report in front of you. Project report is vitally important
for M.B.A students because it develops the feeling among the students about
industrial environment and business to develop the practical base. Theoretical
knowledge is true only when we apply the same in the practical.

There are so many objectives of this project but main objectives of practical studies
are to make the student aware from Marketing environment and problems.
Therefore, the student must have knowledge of everything in practical so that they
can have the analytical skills of market

In order to establish co-relation between the theoretical studies and practical

training, it was suggested that some industry should be analyzed and accordingly
we had done the analysis on “Indian Telecom Industry In 2010”.

Therefore, practical training is of great impacts. It helps the student to know how
the theoretical knowledge obtained can be applied in practice for running a
business. We can get that from live project. Live project played a guiding role to
face the challenge. The live project is also part of M.B.A. program develops the
feeling of awareness.

INTRODUCTION

The first question that must be considered is: what is labeling? Labeling is the
process of exhibiting important information on the product’s package . Labeling has
become increasingly important and legally essential. Manufacturers have to display
the ingredients of the product on the package, with warnings and safety precautions
along with instructions about the best possible utilization of the product.
Consumers are becoming increasingly health conscious, so it is essential to display
the contents of the product especially in the case of food products as most people
prefer to avoid high calorie products. Injurious products such as cigarettes and
other related items should carry a statutory warning

The Government of India encourages the manufacture of products that are eco-
friendly. One such step in this direction is to provide a labeling with the name
'ECOMARK' for those products that meet certain criteria. Such criteria could lead
to effective reduction in the harm caused to the environment, when such products
are disposed of. The Government of India issues this ECOMARK, when the
products meet the set standards along with the requirements of the Indian
Standards Institute. This process has been started to encourage the industries in
India to contribute to the protection of the environment.

Labeling many products is done by attaching a universal product code which

consists of a unique sequence of lines that identifies a product with the help of an
electronic scanner usually placed at the retail checkout counters. These lines also
give the data regarding the price and the inventory status. Manufacturers and
retailers use the Universal Product Code (also known as the bar code) for efficient
pricing and inventory controls.
