Summer Placement Report

Batch of 2017-19
Placement Convenor’s Message

Once again, it gives me immense pleasure to communicate that our Summer

Placement Process has been successfully completed. This time we witnessed
enthusiastic participation from the corporate world to hire the talent pool
nurtured by FMS Delhi. The season saw greater participation from fast
growing, emerging businesses, especially in e-commerce and finance
domains.

The average stipend for the batch once again went up significantly. This
stands testimony to the quality of students who graduate from the Faculty
of Management Studies and the relevance of its curriculum to the needs of
the world of business. Further, we take this opportunity to extend a
heartfelt gratitude to all the recruiters who exhibited immense faith in the
skills and aptitudes of the students of FMS Delhi.

I would also like to express my thanks to fellow faculty members, our

illustrious alumni, students and volunteers who have been a great source of
support and encouragement in the smooth conduct of the Placement
Process. Last, but not the least, we extend a word of gratitude to our Dean,
Prof. Sunita Singh Sengupta, for being a pillar of strength to all of us.

Placement Overview
The summer placement process at FMS Delhi was wrapped up with great success.
Students benefitted from the diverse opportunities that companies offered, testament
to the trust they bestow on our campus. Both national and international opportunities
were available in numbers for students to choose from.

To ensure a smooth and transparent process for the companies, some important
measures were taken. Firstly, a slotting exercise was done to democratically decide
when a company would come in the placement process. Also, for the fourth year in a
row, a scheduling algorithm was run in the placement process to optimally match
the company and student’s preferences during the recruitment exercise.

To encourage students to explore diverse interests, FMS offers its students a gamut of
opportunities across traditional domains such as Sales and Marketing, BFSI,
Operations and IT, as well as new sectors such as Automobile, E-Commerce,
Healthcare, Social Development, Media Marketing and Pharmaceutical. In addition to
these, start-ups too were in vogue, as students who had a penchant for
entrepreneurship wanted to get a flavor of the entrepreneurship bug by interning in
start-ups.

At FMS, there is a strong culture of experiential learning and students supplement

their academic learning with practical insights from the corporate world. Nestled in a
strategic location that is at the crossroads of busy corporate and student activity, FMS
hosted over 175 business leaders in the last year to facilitate a comprehensive
learning curve for its students. This is truly reflected in the dominance of its students
in the best and the most exclusive corporate competitions in the country.
