Tropicana is planning to commence underground mining in May-19. The first three


months of development is planned to use ANFO explosives until reactive ground is
reached at which point the mine will move to emulsion. The mine may also be able to
trial some different explosives products in this time such as perimeter products and
the two different dyno 32mmx200mm products. The student could assist the survey

Nova currently utilises Sandvik DL421-15C (horseshoe) and Sandvik DL431-7C (floating
boom) drill rigs for drilling of production blast holes. Barminco (Nova’s mining
contractor) will be “bolting on” Minnovare’s Production Optimiser system in an effort to
improve drill hole accuracy. This thesis project will capture data and analyse past drill
